Lwanga Sillaje has received his treatment for enlarged liver and spleen, and will not require another for the next 3 years. He is already feeling much better!

We have two other children who require regular medical care and also need $100 per month to cover all their basic needs. The remaining 30 children require only $50/ month apiece. Dear Friends,

We need your immediate help to support Lwanga Sillaje, a 14-year-old boy in Uganda who is struggling with sickle cell anemia. Lwanga lost both of his parents and was being raised by his impoverished 84-year-old grandmother, who was unable to meet his medical needs. Fortunately, Lwanga has found a loving and supportive family with Desire Child Care Organization, but right now he urgently needs our help to get the medical treatment he needs.

Lwanga was recently admitted to the government hospital with an enlarged liver and spleen, a common complication of sickle cell anemia in children called Hepatosplenomegaly. The hospital has prescribed a treatment that will stay in his system for three years and help manage his condition, but it costs $350 for the injections. The hospital will not allow partial or payment plans, so we are asking for your help to raise the funds Lwanga needs for this vital treatment.

In addition to Lwanga, there are 32 other vulnerable children at the Desire Child Care Organization who need our help. Three of these children have chronic health issues that require $100/month to manage, while the other 30 children need monthly sponsorships of $50 apiece. All of these children come from extreme circumstances and are in need of the loving, safe, and nurturing environment Desire provides. Support is temporary. Monthly sponsorships will go towards sustainable and effective solutions until we meet our goal of becoming fully self-sufficient through agriculture, hopefully in the near future.
