Was wir jedoch wissen: Wir dürfen keine wertvolle Zeit verlieren.

Antonia braucht jetzt unsere Hilfe.

Mit tiefer Dankbarkeit,

Cheyenne & Team

Dear friends, brothers and sisters,

Today we are reaching out to you with a very personal and urgent request for help.

Maestra Antonia Ahuanari Medina is 77 years old and belongs to an elder generation of the Shipibo healing tradition of the Peruvian Amazon.

She comes from the well-known Noya Rao lineage of the Shipibo and is the wife of Maestro Benjamin Mahua, who is revered within their tradition as one of the important elder Maestros of his generation.

Antonia and Benjamin belong to a generation that did not learn their knowledge of plants, dietas, healing songs, and the spiritual traditions of the Amazon from books. This knowledge has been lived, preserved, and passed down through their families and lineages from generation to generation.

Today, Antonia herself is the one who needs our support.

A SERIOUS MEDICAL SITUATION

A few days ago, lumps were discovered in Antonia's neck. As a result, an ultrasound examination was performed in Pucallpa on September 4, 2026.

The examination revealed abnormal lymph nodes below the left side of her jaw. The largest lymph node described in the report measures approximately 11 × 11 mm.

What is particularly concerning is that Antonia's condition is now significantly affecting her everyday life:

Antonia is barely able to eat anymore. Swallowing has become so difficult that even soft, puréed or liquid food is very hard for her to swallow.

For a 77-year-old woman, this is especially concerning, as it is becoming increasingly difficult for her to receive enough nutrition and fluids.

Her family is deeply worried about Antonia. In addition to the uncertainty about what is causing her symptoms, they are afraid that she will continue to lose strength as long as she is barely able to eat.

For her family, it is therefore extremely important that Antonia receives the necessary examinations and the best possible medical care as soon as possible.

Her doctors have urgently recommended further examinations. In particular, an MRI of the oral cavity and surrounding structures has been recommended in order to rule out a possible neoplastic condition.

We want to be very clear about this:

At this point, Antonia has not been diagnosed with cancer.

However, her doctors consider the situation serious enough to require prompt and comprehensive further investigation. Because of her condition, Antonia is to be transferred from Pucallpa to Lima for further examinations and the medical care she needs.

For Antonia and her family, this marks the beginning of a difficult time filled with worry and uncertainty – while at the same time facing medical and travel expenses that are extremely difficult for a family in Peru to bear.

WHY WE ARE CREATING THIS FUNDRAISER

We do not want a lack of financial resources to determine what medical care Antonia is able to receive.

The donations will help cover her journey or medical transfer to Lima, the necessary examinations, MRI and further diagnostic procedures, specialist consultations and hospital expenses, as well as medication, accommodation, food, local transportation and the support of a person accompanying her.

If the examinations show that surgery or further treatment is necessary, the funds raised will also help cover these costs.

At this moment, we do not yet know what the upcoming examinations will reveal.

What we do know is that we cannot afford to lose valuable time. Antonia is already barely able to eat and urgently needs comprehensive medical evaluation and care.

NOW WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK

People like Antonia and Benjamin carry within them a treasure whose value is difficult to put into words.

It is the knowledge of a generation of Shipibo Maestras and Maestros whose lives have been deeply connected with their plants, their land, their families and their spiritual tradition.

Much of this knowledge has never been written down. It lives within the people themselves and is passed from one generation to the next.

Antonia is part of this living heritage.

And now she is the one who needs help.

So we are asking you from our hearts:

Please help us provide Antonia with the medical care she urgently needs.

No donation is too small. Many small contributions together can make it possible for Antonia to undergo the necessary examinations, travel to Lima and receive further treatment.

And if you are unable to donate at this time, there is still something very important you can do:

Please share this fundraiser.

Share it with friends, family and communities – especially with people who feel connected to the Shipibo people, the plant medicine traditions of the Amazon, or the preservation of Indigenous healing traditions.

The more people we reach, the greater our chance of raising the funds needed for Antonia's examinations and medical treatment.

TRANSPARENCY

We will keep you updated on Antonia's journey.

As soon as we receive new and confirmed medical information from Lima, we will post updates about her examinations, diagnosis and further treatment.

The donations will be used for Antonia's medical care and the expenses directly related to it – particularly transportation to Lima, medical examinations, MRI, doctors and hospital care, medication, any necessary further treatment or surgery, accommodation, and the necessary support and assistance during her stay.

From our hearts, we thank every single person who supports Antonia – whether through a donation, by sharing this fundraiser, or simply by keeping Antonia and her family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

For many years, people like Antonia have shared their knowledge, their prayers and their medicine with others.

Today, we have the opportunity to give something back.

Antonia needs our help now.

With deep gratitude,

Cheyenne & Team

Queridos amigos, hermanos y hermanas:

Antonia necesita nuestra ayuda ahora.

Con profunda gratitud,

Cheyenne y equipo
