Surgery Update — August 19, 2026

Alhamdulillah, Abdul Khader’s major surgery was successfully completed today. The tumor on his head/scalp was removed, and a plate was placed. We now have a long and difficult journey ahead, including treatment for tumors in the kidney, lungs, and bones with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation. The doctors have estimated the treatment cost at around $150,000.

Known affected areas: Brain, kidney, and pelvic bone
Planned Treatment at Inova Medical Center
According to the current treatment plan, the immediate next step is brain surgery for removal of the brain tumor/lump, scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
The anticipated treatment plan includes:

A. Brain tumor/lump removal
Surgical removal of the brain tumor/lump.

B. Kidney tumor/lump removal
Further evaluation and, if medically appropriate, surgical removal of the kidney tumor/lump.

C. Chemotherapy
Systemic cancer treatment as recommended by the oncology team.

D. Radiation therapy
Radiation treatment as recommended following surgery and based on the final diagnosis and treatment plan.

E. Post-surgical treatment and recovery care
Hospital care, monitoring, rehabilitation as needed, follow-up appointments, medications, and ongoing cancer treatment.
