Please help me prevent being evicted!
My landlord who purchased the building I’ve lived in since 1992 has been harassing me for TEN YEARS. This came on the heels of a traumatic event in my life, and this continuous and illegal harassment has prevented me from getting back on my feet.
I’ve been in three lawsuits with them (which I won). Currently, they have manipulated the last Judgement which was in my favor, and have taken me to Housing Court. The suit is for not signing leases. They have illegally wanted me to sign four leases in one year. I’m rent stabilized and this against housing laws in NYC. The case will lead to my eviction if they win!
Housing Court was set up to help landlords evict. Tenants are prejudiced against, and if a tenant doesn’t have an attorney the bias against them is very strong. The court will make sure such people lose their case. My case is very strong but it doesn’t matter without having an attorney (it’s a club and I’m not in it).
There is a Trial set for the end of February 2018. I have no resources or funds. I have no one to borrow from. I can’t get a loan. I’m trapped.
I’m terrified. If I lose my apartment I’ll have no where to go and am afraid I’ll be homeless.
Please help me hire a Housing Attorney.
