Urgent help for Siargao

El 16 de diciembre, la pequeña isla surfera de Siargao (Filipinas) fue azotada por el supertifón Odette, una de las tormentas más fuertes de la Tierra y declarada Categoría 5.

 

Desde ese día la isla ha perdido todas las conexiones, está totalmente cortada, es imposible contactar con nadie. Sabemos que la comunidad de Siargao, a pesar de haberlo perdido todo, está a salvo (recibimos este mensaje de personas que han conseguido trasladarse a otra isla), ayudándose mutuamente para construir refugios y estar seguros. La isla está totalmente devastada, el 95% de las casas, estructuras y edificios están derrumbados.

 

!!Urge atender las necesidades más inmediatas que necesitan: alimentos, agua potable, suministros médicos, luces (actualmente no hay electricidad), pañales, medicamentos, etc.¡¡

A DÓNDE IRÁN LOS FONDOS: El 100% de lo recaudado irá destinado a organizaciones encargadas de repartir agua, alimentos básicos, medicinas, tiendas de campaña, etc. durante estos días y a reconstruir refugios y/o hogares temporales para todas las personas que no han tenido otra opción que quedarse en la isla. Por ahora los fondos que se reciban se enviarán directamente a Lokal Lab y a sus esfuerzos de ayuda inmediata y la Fundación Ayala. On December 16, the small surf island of Siargao (Philippines) was hit by Super Typhoon Odette, one of the strongest storms on Earth and declared a Category 5.

 

Since that day the island has lost all conections, totally cut off, it is impossible to contact anyone. We know that the community of Siargao, although they have lost everything, is safe (got this message from people who have managed to move to another island), helping each other to build shelters and be safe. The island is totally devastated, 95% of all houses, structures and buildings are collapsed.

 

It will be updated and the names of the NGOs will be added as the money is allocated. It is urgent to help with the most immediate needs: food, drinking water, medical supplies, lights (currently there is no electricity), diapers, medicines, etc.!

 

WHERE THE FUNDS WILL GO: 100% of the donations will go to organizations in charge of distributing water, basic food, medicine, tents, etc. during these days and to rebuild shelters and/or temporary homes for all the people who has no oyher options tat staying in the island as is everything they got (even everything they have were destroyed). For now any funds received will be sent directly to Lokal Lab and their immediate relief efforts and Fundación Ayala. We will been updating the donations according to island needs. .
