Dear friends and supporters,
I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency. Many of you have already shown incredible kindness and generosity in supporting Claire through her previous medical challenges, and for that, we are beyond grateful. Your contributions have meant so much, and we wouldn’t have made it this far without you.
Unfortunately, Claire’s journey is far from over, and we need your help once again.
After Claire’s revision surgery in January 2025, we’ve encountered some serious complications. Despite an initial period of stability, Claire is now facing a new and life-threatening issue: a blockage in her intestines that has led to a drastic increase in the number of treatments she requires daily. What started as one Fleet and Ducolax treatment per day has now escalated to six, administered through her Chait tube. This constant treatment is having dangerous effects, including dangerously low potassium levels, which her specialists have deemed life-threatening.
As Claire’s body struggles to manage these treatments, we have reached a critical point. The only remaining option is a major surgery to remove a significant portion of her bowel. This surgery is a last-resort measure, but one that will come with an extended recovery period—approximately 12 to 18 months—during which Claire will need constant care, medical attention, and support.
The road ahead will be difficult, and we need support to help Claire through this next phase of her journey. The funds raised will go toward:
- The Cost of Surgery: The expenses involved in the major surgery that Claire will need to undergo to remove part of her bowel.
- Hospital Stay and Post-Op Care: Ensuring Claire has the necessary medical care and monitoring during her recovery.
- Ongoing Treatment and Medication: The cost of specialised treatments, including her Chait tube management and daily medications, to keep her stable and safe.
- Pain Management: To help Claire manage the severe pain she endures on a daily basis, and to help make her recovery more bearable.
- Mental Health and Emotional Support: Claire’s mental and emotional health is just as important, and therapy will be essential as she navigates the challenges of her condition over the next 12-18 months.
Watching Claire go through this is absolutely gut-wrenching. Some days, she can’t even walk due to the pain, and I can’t even begin to imagine the daily toll this takes on her physically and mentally. The agony she faces is something no one should endure, especially not a teenager.
We know this has been a lot to ask of everyone in the past, but we are asking once again for your support. No donation is too small, and every bit helps us get one step closer to giving Claire a version of a "normal" life—one where she isn’t constantly battling her body just to survive.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your continued support, generosity, and love. We are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.
