Hi everyone, my name is Sara Murtaja and I’m writing to you today on behalf of my aunt, Saeda Abdou, a 58-year old Palestinian who forcibly had to leave Gaza to flee the ongoing war and currently lives in Egypt. Please see below an excerpt by Saeda speaking to you about her current hardship.

“Hello everyone. My name is Saeda Abdou, a Palestinian from Gaza, and in November of 2023 I evacuated Gaza, leaving behind my husband, 3 boys, daughter in-law, and 3 grandchildren. Ever since that day, I have counted the days, hours, and seconds that we’ve been apart. I was able to leave Gaza as we were promised that as soon as I leave, my remaining family members will soon be able to follow. However, right after I left, conditions have only worsened and the Rafah border is now completely shut off from the outside world, not allowing anything to leave or enter.

Daily I have to endure the pain of being separated from my family and not knowing about their safety and well-being everyday.

My ultimate goal of this Gofundme page is to gather daily living expenses PLUS expenses for my journey back to Gaza! I want nothing more than reuniting back with my family. Now that the war is over, It only makes sense for me to go back.

I do not hold citizenship in Egypt, I have no health insurance nor the ability to gain employment that can help sustain my living expenses. I am not only burdened by the memories of war and the reality of being separated by my family, but also by the struggles of affording my daily living.
