Latest Update-I was able to make it to my 2nd and main surgery. It took 4-5 hrs. They put a metal pole down my leg into my foot also deceased donor skin grafts. Im not able to put any pressure on my foot still for at least 4-6 weeks. Still need to be in nursing rehab facility cant go up the 20 stairs at home. Insurance keeps denying my stay my transport to doctors and my meds. Im still in dire need of donations to get more time, meds, transport to Dr.,etc. I greatly appreciate the help I received already. So thankful.
So my 2nd and Main Surgery to actually put my foot and ankle back together with screws and plates is next Friday. Ive been staying in Nursing rehab center. My insurance is kicking me out this weekend. I need to be here until the surgery and after. Beds are hard to come by and the only option may be pay to stay which I cannot afford. I have meds and transportation costs as well to get to surgery and back. Those are my main concerns to get my foot fixed. The hospital costs etc I am accruing will be something to worry about down the road. I just need help for the immediate costs. If I had any other avenue I wouldn't even be asking. I appreciate any and all help. So Im Jimmy. I slipped on ice on driveway while walking my dog Jan 6th.Sitting on ground I straightened my legs to access the damage and my right foot point up and my left foot pointed completely left. I had to get home so i grabbed my foot and turned it straight. With a strangers help I got up and hobbled home up 20 steps. Ambulance took me to ER. I was put in splint cast+surgery would follow in 3 weeks. My foot Dr/Surgeon told me I needed a knee scooter to get around house. So 3 weeks and 3 visits to Dr. I was days away from surgery when the worst thing possible happened. My knee scooter tipped over on the left side in my room and landed on my foot. I went over the front of the scooter and crashed into my dressers hard while tons of objects rained down on my head and body that were on the dressers. It was unreal. After it stopped I saw my foot was again turned left exactly like the original accident so I again turned it straight as I crawled to my bed. I was shaking and bleeding this time. I knew it was a catastrophic injury as my foot felt barely attached. I got the courage to unwrap a little to see exactly what happened and saw I ripped my foot open like 2 inches wide almost 75°around my ankle. Bones and fibers and massive clots and blood was coming out. I wrapped it back quickly so I didn't bleed out. Again I had to go by ambulance and they took me to hospital. My surgeon did my Emergency 1st surgery at 2am. That first surgery was to just try to straighten my leg, foot ankle so that fixing it would even be possible.Ive been in Hospital and Nursing Rehab for more than 5 weeks and just got news my 2nd Surgery will be 2 more weeks away. I need to stay in this facility for safety and care. Another mishap could cause me to lose my foot. After 2nd surgery Ill be in hospital/Rehab for a few more weeks.
This has been everyday excruciating pain from injury and all the pins/screws in my foot and leg. My arms are so sore from insulin shots and blood clots that grew big golf ball size lumps where ivs were. Getting blood thinner shots in stomach which also created lumps. My mental health is not doing well as I am now dealing with severe panic, anxiety, ptsd from the accidents, being stuck in bed and in pain. Its been alot. Too much actually. TMy diabetes,Naropathy and rare nerve disorder Harlequin Syndrome all affect my recovery and healing takes much longer. Ive spent all my savings, and maxed all my credit just getting this far. Special wheelchair Transportation,Medication,Nursing Rehab Facility stay, Equipment still needed ahead. Its been a battle with my insurance. They dont want to cover anything I need. It has been the hardest experience of my life mentally and physically. My Mom and brother do what they can but its minimal as they are very limited. I live with my sister and she does alot of the little things I need.
Asking for help is really hard. Ive always liked to be the one to help others. After alot of thought I decided to put my pride aside and made this fundraiser. Times are tough for most. So I appreciate any and all help from everyone. Seeing people care about me is a genuinely great feeling.
Thanks,Jimmy P.
