Nico needs a Mothers Day Miracle ❤️

Almost everyone who knows me, knows Nico and followed his story across the country from Utah to Ohio. If you've seen me along my travels at Art Shows, then you've also had the pleasure of meeting my amazing larger than life special needs travel companion.

Nico and I need your help. Wednesday morning Nico had to be rushed to MedVet due to what we later confirned to be an obstruction in his GI track. For those unfamiliar with rabbit anatomy, ANY blockage or issues for that matter effecting their delicate GI track, can turn fatal within a matter of hours. Our amazing Dr. Borders saw Nico immediately within the hour of me noticing something was wrong. Upon Xrays and blood work she wasted no time in notifying MedVet that Nico was in route and had a largely distended stomach and blockage. We were instantly in the car and drove the normal 45 minute route in record time. We were met in the lobby by the triage staff and Nico was taken back and prepared for emergency surgery. They removed 100cc of fluid, a little hair and to our horror blood from Nico's stomach. His stomach had distended so severly that it tore at the delicate lining and was at risk to burst. Nico has been under constant monitoring and receiving an arsenal of treatments, fluids and injections to not only get him to successfully pass the obstruction without further high risk surgery but to coat, heal and stop the internal bleeding of his stomach lining. As of 2am this morning, almost 20 hrs later, Nico finally began to pass poops and eat. This is a HUGE blessing Upon a follow up Xray they also discovered calcified poops in his rectum. We are hoping this is a one time fluke, but due to Nico's paralization, we need to consider future possibilities of this happening again.

Update ❤️ Nico is finally strong enough to come home but he is still not 100% out of risk yet. It will be a delicate recovery for him, we need to continue medication for his stomach and monitor any possibility of continued bleeding and or obstructions. He is currently entertaining the staff with his antics and "love me" personality.

We rarely ask for donations or help when it comes to our babies. It is a decision and life choice that our family took on in order to make a difference in the life's of these amazing little creatures, so it was never a thought to relye on others to help us follow that path. But at times of emergencies, when a life is a stake and the over all well being of everyone in our care is at stake, we feel we have no choice but to atleast ask and then pray help will come.

We are reaching out asking if anyone can find it within their budget to help us fund this medical emergency for Nico. As of yesterday we had to use multiple credit cards to put a $2400 estimated down payment to MedVet and that estimate was BEFORE they found the stomach lining bleeding. Not to mention the $457 original bill to Dr. Borders for the original Xrays, visit and bloodwork that determined his emergency state and the future medication and follow ups needed for his stomach.

Every dollar is greatly appreciated and desperately needed.
