They've asked me to share their stories with you, aiming to garner support for our fundraising efforts. While we've successfully raised funds for Mahmoud, countless others in parallel circumstances such as Mayada and her family urgently require our assistance.

<li>I’m Mahmoud Henawi and I was born and raised in Gaza. I have a wife and three beautiful children, and I am also the main caretaker of my elderly mother. My mother is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and has been battling this strenuous disease for 11 years now. She is currently in the final stages of her disease. In these stages of this progressive disease, a person anywhere in this world would be under intensive care. My mother is no different. She requires special care for her survival, which we were providing her with before this violence. As she was paralyzed, she was used to sleeping on a conditioned bed that she was restricted to due to her disability. To feed her, we had to blend all her meals as she had lost the ability to chew food. I have lived through all the wars and continued aggression on Gaza, but this war has been the harshest on us thus far. We have been forcibly displaced from our homes three times, each time proving more difficult with the increasing distances and worsening conditions. I have struggled to move my displaced mother all three times, with the final move to Rafah being the most difficult as we are now living in a small tent. My mother’s situation rapidly worsens due to the freezing weather, lack of insulation inside the tent, and inadequate food. I am now crushing her tiny meals with my bare hands as she lies on the cold and stoned ground. The money that I am asking for would allow me to evacuate my mother, children, and wife. It would allow me to provide my mother with the care she desperately needs in a safe and comfortable place for her health. The remaining operational hospitals are unable to admit her as they are overwhelmed with treating the injured. I am now living in a constant state of depression, pain, and fear as I look at my mother and children slowly deteriorating before my eyes. I live in fear of losing any one of them as there remains no safe place in Gaza anymore. Adding to my fear, the lack of water and food is affecting their health. We are terrified that if we don’t die from the violent bombardment, we will die from diseases. I need any and all help to evacuate and provide my mom and family, and the likes of them, with the shelter they need.

<li>My name is Mayada Henawi, I was born and raised in Gaza, and I lived through all the wars of the past 40 years. The wars of years past have scarred us, but nothing could have prepared me for the aggression and terror of what we are living through right now. Everyone is a target for the Israeli missiles and there is no safe place to go. My family is my heartbeat, and the crippling fear that one day, I may not be able to ensure their next breath is a weight no soul should bear. As a mother the terror that grips me is not of my own but of my five precious children. I suffer from hypertension and a few days ago I suffered from a stroke due the lack of nutrition, dependency on canned food, worsened conditions, and lack of treatment. When I arrived at the hospital, no one was able to tend to my situation as the hospital is flooded with severely injured patients in critical condition. They gave me a pill, but my blood pressure remained high. I insisted on leaving the hospital as I felt terror being surrounded by the dead, injured and even body parts thrown on the hospital floor. A basic human right is to live with dignity, shelter, food and safety. We have limited access to food and what we can get has become unaffordable, for example, 2 dollars for a single banana. We have never felt safe during war but at least in the past we’ve had our home, access to food and most importantly, our dignity. This dignity is being stripped away from us as we are displaced further and further from our home, and our living conditions deteriorate. I fear I will face another and even more severe stroke where no one will be able to save me, and my kids will be left uncared for and alone in this cruel world. In Gaza, we live by the mercy of moments, under skies that weep iron. Our forced resilience is our resistance, our love for each other our defiance. But even the strongest of spirits can only endure so much which is why I am asking for help to allow me and my children to evacuate Gaza safely.
