<div>Five days to raise $5,100. Going into foreclosure next week, Oct. 7th. What happened: After my wife finished 15 months of cancer treatments earlier this year, both of us had exhausted any/all savings. In addition, I took out a loan against my limited partial pension to keep our home and feed everyone. Shortly thereafter, she abandoned us and our plans for my early retirement due to painful health reasons from nerve damage and advancing arthritis. She then stopped contributing to the household bills. Since then, I can no longer afford to keep payments current while struggling with other bills as well. Despite my best efforts, I have failed... I am still responsible for the care of my autistic adult son and our five young dogs. The VA Mortgage company has been working with me. Yet I have been unable to accomplish completely what needs to be done and fear losing my home and the ability to care for my son in the very near future. Recently exploring help through VA medical to help treat depression and hopefully cover the cost of pain medications which I can not afford through Medicare on limited Social Security. I'm still able to keep the '02 Buick Century on the road so far. Not able to afford repairs needed for the old pickup truck, which I used before to make a little extra cash from time to time transporting items to a local flee market. Still owe $205k on the VA mortgage. I had worked out a contract with a property investor (or so I thought) prior to retirement on September 1st. However, just after signing the contract, he wanted us to pay half the cost of the new solar system, which is unheard of. This would not allow enough money for my son &amp; I with our five dogs to move somewhere with a lower cost of living to keep a roof over our heads.
