Hi everyone, this is Pepe. He’s a 5-week-old teacup Yorkie, currently weighing just about 1 pound. Right now, he’s fighting for his life in the ICU at the veterinary hospital due to a severe roundworm infection.

I brought Pepe home on July 5 from a breeder who told me he was older and had already been dewormed, but that turned out to be false. I started him on a deworming treatment myself on July 7 and completed the rounds by July 11. He was playful, alert, and doing well, so I thought everything was okay.

But on July 16, I noticed something was off…he wasn’t playing much, then began throwing up and having diarrhea. I rushed him to the vet, knowing how serious this could be for such a tiny puppy. He’s been hospitalized ever since.

Pepe has shown some signs of improvement (he’s a fighter!) but he’s still struggling with diarrhea and had a dangerous drop in blood sugar, which means he’ll need to stay longer under care. His current vet bill is already at $2,800 and continues to grow as he needs more treatment.

I decided to get Pepe because I’ve always wanted another Yorkie since losing my last one three years ago. He was 14 years old when he passed, and he meant everything to me. I’m allergic to most cats and dogs, but Yorkies have always been the one breed that never triggered my allergies. Over time, my entire family grew to love Yorkies too, and Pepe quickly became a new favorite. His tiny face, his spirit, and the way he reminded us of our first Yorkie made him feel like a perfect match.
