<div>Im Frühling 2019 fragte ich Mohammed in Jerusalem nach dem Weg. Er war gerade zum ersten Mal ausserhalb Gazas unterwegs. Wir haben schnell rausgefunden, dass uns die Musik, – unsere Leidenschaft, unser Beruf, unsere Werte – verbinden. Aus dieser Begegnung wurde eine Freundschaft.

<div>Seit dem neusten Krieg in Gaza wurde schnell klar, dass sein Überleben von finanzieller Unterstützung abhängig ist.

<div>Mohammed, seine Frau Doha und die vier Kinder seines Bruders sind dank einer privat organisierten Eil-Spenden-Aktion und mit viel Glück sicher in Kairo angekommen. Sie stehen nun, nach dem Verlust ihrer Wohnung, ihrer Jobs und ihres gesamten Vermögens durch den Krieg vor großen existentiellen Problemen. Mohammeds Bruder und Dohas herzkranker Vater befinden sich noch in Rafah und müssen so schnell wie möglich aus dieser grausamen Lage herausgeholt werden. Jeder Tag zählt.

<div>Der Weg aus Rafah wird militärisch versperrt. Die Summen für Grenzübergänge sind unfassbar hoch, es ist unmöglich für mich und Mohammeds Familie, diese Beträge alleine zu stemmen. Ausserdem sind die Gelder der Eilspende mehrheitlich von Personen ausgeliehen und müssen zurückbezahlt werden.

<div>Das Spendenziel setzt sich zusammen aus den noch ungedeckten Kosten für Grenzübergänge, um alle Familienmitglieder in Sicherheit zu bringen, sowie finanzielle Hilfe für einen Neustart in Kairo nach jenen traumatischen Kriegserlebnissen.

<div><em>Mein Name ist Mohammed und ich habe lange gezögert, diesen Text zu schreiben, weil ich eigentlich eine gewisse Privatsphäre in meinem Leben bevorzuge. Ich habe bisher nie etwas von jemandem verlangt, weil ich immer bestrebt war, alles, was ich brauchte um mich wohl und sicher zu fühlen selber erreichen zu können.</em>

<div><em>Vor eineinhalb Jahren heiratete ich Doha, meine Freundin und Partnerin in Ideen und Träumen. Wir begannen, unser Leben gemeinsam zu planen, wie wir es uns erträumt hatten, wohl wissend, dass beide von uns ihren eigenen Job und ein stabiles Einkommen hatten.</em>

<div><em>Wir mieteten ein Haus mit einem Vertrag, der mit dem Eigentum endete. Wir zahlten eine Anzahlung und finanzierten den verbleibenden Betrag. Wir begannen, das Haus einzurichten, von Malerarbeiten über Elektroarbeiten bis hin zur Dekoration. Wir einigten uns darauf, alles selbst zu machen.</em>

<div><em>Ich erinnere mich, als Doha und ich beschlossen, dieses Haus zu unserem Traumhaus zu machen und in jeder Ecke unsere Spuren zu hinterlassen. Wir malten die Wände und wählten Farben aus, installierten Lampen nach einer anstrengenden Einkaufstour. Das waren Momente, die ich nie vergessen werde; wie glücklich sie mich machten und wie schmerzhaft es ist, jetzt darüber zu sprechen.</em>

<div><em>Dann begannen wir, über sechs Monate hinweg Möbel und alles mögliche für das Haus zu kaufen. Ich richtete auch ein Studio ein, das für meine Arbeit als Musiker geeignet war, und stattete es mit allen notwendigen Dingen aus. Ich könnte sagen, dass Doha und ich in unserem Traumhaus lebten, das wir Schritt für Schritt erschaffen hatten. Wir zögerten keinen Moment, unser Erspartes für diesen Traum auszugeben, der uns entglitt, ohne dass wir einen bemerkenswerten Fehler begangen hätten.</em>

<div><em>Am 7. Oktober erwachten wir in einem Albtraum, der unser Leben komplett veränderte. Wir gingen durch schwere Zeiten und beschlossen, im Haus zu bleiben, trotz aller Warnungen zur Evakuierung.</em>
</div>
<div><em>Wir schafften es, einen Monat zu bleiben, und versuchten, Wasser und etwas alternative Energie bereitzustellen, da alle Lebensgrundlagen in der Region abgeschnitten waren. Wir standen einer Angst und Besorgnis gegenüber, die mit Worten nicht zu beschreiben sind.</em>

<div><em>Am 8. November bereiteten wir die letzte Mahlzeit in unserer schönen Küche zu, als unser Gebäude, unser Zuhause, von Flugzeugen ins Visier genommen wurde.</em>

<div><em>Ich bin mir sicher, dass dieser Moment in meinem Leben für immer in meinem Gedächtnis bleiben wird. Es fühlte sich an, als hätte ich mich von meinem Zuhause an einen Ort bewegt, den ich nicht kannte. Zerstörung umgab uns aus jeder Richtung, und wir waren gefangen, bis Hilfe kam. Wir verloren alles, was wir besaßen: unseren Traum, unsere Hoffnung, und wir begannen unsere Reise der Vertreibung an jenem schicksalhaften Tag, an dem wir unser Zuhause und unser Auto verloren.</em>

<div><em>Wir liefen nach Khan Younis, eine Strecke von 10 Kilometern, unter Bedingungen voller Angst und Erwartung, bis wir das Haus einiger Verwandter erreichten, das bereits etwa sechs andere Familien beherbergte. Da es keinen Platz für uns gab, verbrachten wir einen ganzen Monat in einem Vogelzimmer auf dem Dach des Gebäudes unserer Verwandten.</em>

<div><em>Warnungen in Khan Younis zwangen uns erneut zur Evakuierung nach Rafah und zur Suche nach einem Platz für uns und Dohas Verwandte, bis wir ein verlassenes, unbewohnbares Haus fanden. Wir renovierten und richteten es etwas ein und begannen eine neue Leidensreise auf der Suche nach Wasser und Nahrung.</em>
</div>
<div><em>Dieses Leiden dauerte drei aufeinanderfolgende Monate, in denen wir vielen Situationen ausgesetzt waren, die uns psychisch und körperlich negativ beeinflussten. Unsere Gesundheit verschlechterte sich aufgrund der katastrophalen Bedingungen um uns herum. Wir verbrachten Monate damit, Konserven und ungeniessbare Mahlzeiten zu essen.</em>

<div><em>Mit Hilfe einiger Freundinnen und Freunde aus dem Ausland schafften wir es, Mitte März nach zahlreichen Versuchen und einem Warten, das uns Tag für Tag tötete, auszureisen.</em>
</div>

<div><em>Jetzt sind Doha und ich in Ägypten und haben nichts, um ein neues Leben zu beginnen. Wir verbrauchten unser ganzes Geld während der Vertreibungszeit und verloren unsere Jobs und Einkommensquellen. Andererseits leiden unsere Familienmitglieder immer noch, darunter meine Mutter, Dohas Vater, der an Herzinsuffizienz leidet, und ihre Geschwister.</em>
</div>

<div>In the spring of 2019, I asked Mohammed for directions in Jerusalem. He was traveling outside of Gaza for the first time. We quickly found out that music—our passion, our profession, our values—connected us. This encounter led to a friendship. Since the recent war in Gaza, it has become clear that his survival depends on financial support.

<div>Thanks to a privately organized emergency donation campaign and a lot of luck, Mohammed, his wife Doha, and his brother's four children have safely arrived in Cairo. Now, after losing their home, their jobs, and all their assets due to the war, they face significant existential problems. Mohammed's brother and Doha's heart-sick father are still in Rafah and need to be rescued from this cruel situation as soon as possible. Every day counts.

<div>The way out of Rafah is militarily blocked. The costs for border crossings are incredibly high, making it impossible for me and Mohammed's family to bear these amounts alone. Additionally, I borrowed most of the emergency donation funds and need to repay them.
</div>
<div>The donation goal consists of the remaining costs for border crossings to bring all family members to safety, as well as financial help for a new start in Cairo after these traumatic war experiences. Whether you see your contribution as a gesture of solidarity, humanitarian aid, friendship, or political support: every small amount helps to relieve Mohammed's family and individual supporters financially, and to share the financial burden in solidarity. The amounts are transferred personally – this has proven effective so far.

<div><em>My name is Mohammed, and I hesitated a lot before writing this text because I naturally prefer secrecy in my life. I never mentioned once that I asked for anything from anyone because I always strived to provide everything I needed to feel comfortable and secure.</em>
</div>

<div><em>I got married a year and a half ago to Doha, my friend and partner in ideas and dreams. We started planning our lives together as we had dreamed, knowing that each of us had their own job and a stable income.</em>
</div>

</div>
<div><em>We rented a house with a contract that ended with ownership. We paid a down payment and financed the remaining amount. We started setting up the house, from painting to electrical work and decoration. We agreed that we would do everything ourselves, without the need for workers or technicians.</em>
</div>

<div><em>I remember when Doha and I decided to make this house our dream home, leaving our mark in every corner. We painted the walls and chose colors, installed lights after a tiring shopping trip. Those were moments that will never leave my memory; how happy they made me, and how painful it is to talk about them now.</em>

<div><em>Then we started buying furniture and everything for the house over six months. I also set up a room suitable for my work as a musician, equipping it with all the necessities. I could say that Doha and I were living in our dream home, which we made step by step. We didn't hesitate for a moment to spend what we had saved for this dream, which slipped away from us without us committing any noticeable mistake.</em>

<div><em>On October 7th, we woke up to a nightmare that completely changed our lives. We went through tough times and decided to stay in the house despite all the warnings to evacuate.</em>
</div>

<div><em>We managed to stay for a month, trying to provide water and some alternative energy due to the cutoff of all means of life in the area. We faced fear and anxiety that cannot be described in words.</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>On November 8th, we were preparing the last meal in our beautiful kitchen when our building, our home was targeted by planes. I can assert that that moment in my life will remain present in my mind forever. It felt like I moved from my home to a place I didn't know. Destruction surrounded us from every direction, and we were trapped until help arrived. We lost everything we owned: our dream, hope, and we began our displacement journey on that fateful day when we lost our home and our car.</em>
</div>

<div><em>We walked to Khan Younis, a distance of 10 kilometers, under conditions filled with fear and anticipation, until we reached the home of some relatives, which already housed about six other families. Since there was no space for us, we spent a whole month sleeping in a room for birds on the roof of our relatives' building.</em>

<div><em>Warnings in Khan Younis forced us to evacuate again to Rafah and search for a place for us and Doha's relatives until we found an abandoned house unfit for living. We renovated and somewhat furnished it, starting a new journey of suffering in search of water and food.</em>
</div>

<div><em>This suffering continued for three consecutive months, during which we faced many situations that negatively affected us mentally and physically. Our health deteriorated due to the catastrophic conditions around us. We spent months eating canned food and unsuitable meals.</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>With the help of some friends from abroad, we managed to travel in mid-March after numerous attempts and waiting that was killing us day by day.</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>Now, Doha and I are in Egypt, having nothing to start a new life with. We drained all our money during the displacement period and lost our jobs and source of income. On the other hand, our family members are still suffering, including my mother, Doha's father who suffers from heart failure, and her siblings.</em>

<div><strong><em>We wrote our story, which cannot describe what we truly experienced during the past months. We hope the world stands for us because we are not just numbers; we are dreams, aspirations, and lives who lost everything we owned and left behind everyone we love in search of safety only.</em></strong>
