<div>Christmas and the festive period can be a hard time for a dementia patient and their family, in some cases a Dementia sufferer might not even know its Christmas let alone recognise the people around them (if there is anyone there at all).
</div>

<div>Over Christmas last year, Dementia UK responded to over 4000 calls to dementia suffers and their family members in desperate need of help! (And that was just the festive period)
</div>
<div>Every three minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with dementia, the effects of this not only decimate the lives of the diagnosed but also their family and friends.
</div>
<div>Would you know how to cope in this situation?
</div>

<div>Thankfully there are teams out there that can provide support such as Dementia UK and the Alzheimer's society.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When families are struggling to know where to turn, Dementia UK provides specialist dementia nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, who are there to offer advice, support and a listening ear. For many callers, the Helpline is their lifeline.
</div>
<div>The Alzheimer's society similarly offers companion calls to those suffering from Dementia as well providing in home support and driving research into improving the lives of Dementia patients.
</div>

<div>As you cam imagine this support does not come cheap. Whilst there is an army of volunteers out there, full time support and resources are required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
</div>

</div>
<div>So here is the ask - can you support these amazing teams by making a donation?
</div>
<div>In the summer of this year you helped me smash my target of £500 for the Alzheimer's society. (This money was used by the Alzheimer's society to provide in person support to dozens of patients).
</div>
<div>So now I'm trying to help both the Alzheimer's society and Dementia UK by aiming for a fundraising goal of £700.
</div>
<div>That £700 will help make sure phones get answered, sufferers are visited and research continues.
</div>

<div>Any donation you can afford to make will go to a very worthy cause and ensure sufferers and families are supported.
</div>

<div>What am I doing to help this? Well this festive period I will be helping to man the phones and support home visits as a supportive volunteer wherever I can.
