Rateb’s mother, Faryal, had back surgery right before the war and hasn’t healed due to lack of care. For nearly two years, they’ve gone without steady access to food, water, or medicine. Given the blockade, prices in Gaza are so expensive that they are unable to afford them. Now that the borders have reopened, Rateb and his family are rapidly raising money to evacuate to Egypt.
