<div>As I write this, Padmagarbha das (Peter Reinhold), Srila Prabhupada's disciple is in ER at Arbor Health—Morton Hospital in Morton, Washington State. For the last few months his health has been rapidly declining. The most severe development was his diagnosis of aortic stenosis, a heart ailment that prevents the heart valve from fully opening. Apart from extreme weakness and heart palpitations Padma's ability to breathe properly is debilitated. He cannot take a deep breath, only very shallow breaths, and that by conscious effort. The automatic breathing by his body no longer functions properly. This has prevented him from being able to sleep for more than brief minutes at night, and that while sitting up, because if he lies down his breathing stops. I will update with more developments as I hear them.

<div>Padmagarbha's financial situation is very tight, with only a meager income from social security. He has only Rishi Kumar, another older Prabhupada disciple who lives on their small rural project to assist him. He needs money for all the expenses that he will meet since he will, no doubt, prefer to stay at home where he worships Pancha Tattva and a pair of Srila Prabhupada's worn shoes.
