Aid For Ukrainian Refugees: Project Aid & Rescue

My name is Jeff Kaminsky and I am a volunteer for the Northbrook Community Emergency Response Team. 
Seeing the horrific images from Ukraine every night made me feel helpless so decided to stand up and do something. After contacting some humanitarian organizations and government officials from the U.S. and Germany, I started organizing a relief mission to provide aid to the Ukrainian people. http://www.aidandrescue.org/

On March 7th, I flew to Berlin Germany which became the epicenter of where the refugees were fleeing to.

While back home, friends, colleagues, and volunteers begin collecting food, medicine, diapers, blankets and other supplies to be shipped to Europe for the refugees. 

In Berlin I begin working with a team of volunteers who had come together in a grassroots effort to provide aid and assistance to the overwhelming number of refugees that were arriving at the Central Berlin bus station (ZOB) and the Central Berlin train station every day. 

We organized and developed a system to provide food and emergency shelter to the refugees. The greatest need was temporary housing. So I began blocking out hotel rooms at several hotels in order to provide a clean room, a hot shower, and a nutritious meal for the refugees. 

As the war has carried on, we have been helping with the rescue of bus loads of refugees from within Ukraine as well as assisting with medical extractions of refugees by ambulance.

We are also providing food and aid to Ukrainians still inside Ukraine.
