The city of Goma, and now Bukavu, have been taken over by M23 and other rebels. Sadly, more and more people are being killed. A humanitarian crisis has developed, and many fled south from Goma to neighboring Bukavu city for safety, but now the M23 have entered Bukavu. People are scared, hungry and homeless.
My name is Krista Reincke, and I work with many of the diaspora of Congolese in Vermont. My impressions are that the Congolese are some of the most hardworking, faithful, kind, and friendly people. Many of their family members are suffering in Eastern DR Congo.
A local church will be receiving the donations and distributing the items. The local pastor has been receiving many desperate phone calls asking for just $5 or $10 to feed their families who have not eaten for days or who do not know where their food will come from tomorrow.
Any money raised will provide immediate needs for food, water, medical supplies, clothing, and shelter for those displaced.
PLEASE HELP GOMA & BUKAVU VICTIMS NOW:
$2.50 will provide 33.8oz of peanut oil
$2.70 will provide 2.2lbs of beans
$1.00 will provide 2.2lbs of corn flour
$1.40 will provide 2.2lbs of rice
$4.00 will provide 33.8oz of milk
$1.40 will provide 2.2lbs of sugar
$2.50 will provide 33.8oz of palm oil
As you can see, a very little amount can go a long way there. I know we're all being asked to give to many causes now, so a very big thank you for choosing to contribute here. Your donation will make a life-changing impact on many lives. We are so grateful for any help you can provide.
