My name is Shawnta Duhon, married to Aaron Duhon. December of '22, my family and I moved into a rental with every intention of starting a new, wonderful life. I was about 3 months pregnant with Ms Adaline. We have a 12-year-old, and now the baby is 18 months old. We both experienced a wide range of symptoms that now lead to underlying medical problems. Despite telling our landlord about the suspicion of mold, it was pushed to the side as not a big deal. Once our previous landlord found out about me wanting to get tested for mycotoxins, they gave us 30 days to move. This put a huge damper on our finances.
We are in a new home now, and we've both done testing and are undergoing treatments. We both did gut zoomer tests and mycotoxins tests. My 18-month-old has HIGH levels of inflammation and mycotoxins in her system on top of other medical issues including IBS, autoimmune, and SIBO, just to name a few. My baby stayed inflamed her whole life, always keeping her in the 100th percentile for her weight. Her pediatrician failed her by saying all my medical concerns were normal for her. She has sensory developmental delay due to this.
My gut zoomer says pretty much the same, but I'm waiting for my results for my mycotoxins test to come back. That explains why I had such a difficult pregnancy, my mental state, and all the symptoms I've had: brain fog, memory problems, skin rashes, hair loss, high histamine (MCAS), just to name a few. We've spent thousands of dollars on treatment, consults, and testing. We have yet to start detoxing, which is soon. We don't know how long it will take to fix our leaky gut from the mold exposure. We have to fix that before we detox the mycotoxins. This has been an extremely hard time for my family, especially during the holidays. I’m starting this GoFundMe to just try to help with some of these medical expenses due to the major loss of work and medical expenses for past and future. This is not covered by insurance, so all has been paid out of pocket.
