Urban Promise Christmas Toy Drive 2021

Our names are Jiya Patel and Ellery Underhill, and we are currently juniors at the Charter School of Wilmington. Urban Promise is a program that provides care for inner-city children, and teaches them about religion and leadership. We started volunteering at their after-school program in 2018, and we immediately fell in love with it. Over the years, we have led summer camps, tutored the students, and helped pass out meals. This year, we started a club at our school to inform more people about Urban Promise and to bring more volunteers into this community. While COVID has made in-person volunteering difficult, we remind our club members that there are many other ways to become involved with Urban Promise. The Urban Promise Outreach Club is organizing a toy drive, where our members would use the money raised to create 93 individual Christmas goody bags for the children. We'd love to create meaningful goody bags with sustainable stocking stuffers and yummy treats. Our goal is to reach $500 by December 14th, which can only be achieved with the help of our community.
