Malawi Trips- We are a group of 10 student Optometrists heading out to Malawi this June and July to provide eyecare, spectacles and training to upcoming Optometrists. Malawi is the 5th poorest nation in the world by GDP in 2025 and only has around 100 Optometrist to provide care for a population of around 22 million! The care we aim to provide is essential for their ageing population, whose exposure to the Savanah Sun makes them more at risk of eye conditions such as Cataracts, Glaucoma and Trachoma. The money donated will go towards funding sight-saving Cataract surgeries (costing just £30 out there) as well as medications and equipment for hospitals, and the transportation of prescription spectacles and optical equipment. We hope that with your help, our work will have a lasting effect for years to come in Malawi, as it has in years prior. For 25 years students have been going out and helping the locals, and 100% of Optometrists in Malawi have undergone some form of training by our Cardiff students, so you can see how much of a lasting impact our mission will have.

Ghana Trips- Hi everyone!

We’re Team Ghana This September we will be travelling to the lovely Cape Coast to be part of a transformative outreach program, providing hundreds of free sight tests and supporting the local communities.

Cataracts are the leading cause of reversible blindness, and surgery only costs £30 to perform! Your support will mean that hundreds of people will be given the chance to see clearly again, opening doors and opportunities for these communities.

Even the smallest donation will make the biggest impact by helping us reach more people and change lives. We are truly appreciative of any contribution!

We are also looking for any old pairs of glasses, sunglasses, sun hats and toys that you would be willing to donate and brighten someone’s day! ✨
