Thank you for helping Alex

Update 30/7

It’s been just under three months since Alex arrived back in Australia, and since that time our focus has been on his health and recovery from the traumatic situation that unfolded in Taiwan.

Before this Go Fund Me (GFM) page is closed, we’d like to express our immense gratitude again to all those who shared Alex’s story, to those who generously donated to get him home, and to all those who sent good wishes, love and support to our family. It is thanks to you that we were able to get Alex home safely.

The kindness shown to us, and all the messages left on this page for Alex, helped more than you can imagine. We feel so blessed to have Alex home.

Launching the GFM Page & Retrieval:

As a very close and private family, asking for help, especially in such a public way, was not something we did lightly. With Alex back in ICU, and his health in crisis, we launched this page in desperation to seek assistance to get him home.

So many kind souls stepped in to help, and we were blessed to have the assistance of family, friends, and those in the wider community with some experience in Medical Evacuations who worked with us. This included help to source medivac quotes, engagement with relevant government officials both here and overseas, the management of logistics, and the specialists who gave their time to help us access the support needed to make this rescue possible.

To all of those who gave their time and expertise here too, we thank you.
We were blown away that our GFM goal was met in less than two days, your kindness and generosity was overwhelming.

Funds Raised and Kindness Shared:

As you can appreciate, it has taken some time for costs to be finalised, given the recovery needed from such an extreme situation.

We are so grateful that your kind donations covered what we needed to help Alex. From here, we have spent time working with the GFM team to ensure all compliance measures have been met to enable us to gift the excess funds to the Medical Rescue team who brought Alex home.

We are happy to share that all surplus funds from this page have been donated to the Medical Rescue Foundation on the Gold Coast. We hope these funds can now be used to help and support other families who may find themselves in times of crisis as we did.

Media Attention:

Our priority is Alex’s recovery. As per the media statement released by our family in May, we have been declining media requests since Alex’s return as we’ve been advised not to make any further comments so as not to jeopardize the current police investigation in Taiwan.

Our family is still overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of care and support we have received and want to thank you all for wishing the best for Alex.

We have received so much kindness throughout this process, and our wish now is to see this kindness paid forward. Wishing you and your family every health and happiness. x
