UpState New York's Summer League

For many years Dutchess County has had many failing athletic programs-- Summer League Basketball being one of them. My name is Jabreel Harrell, I'm an 18 Year Old college Freshman majoring in Economics, with a strong passion for Basketball. Throughout the years I have witnessed crime rates rise and kids fall to the system. Not to mention many other tradgedies. I have aspirations of this Basketball League being taken seriously and more importantly giving young men and women the opportunity to get off the streets and participate in an activity we all love. I plan to have 14-17 year old kids playing together in a league and in other days have young men from the ages of 18-21 competing. With all of the money I plan to raise, proceeds will be put towards paying for referees, jerseys, trophies at the end of the Summer, various cookouts for the youth, brand new basketballs, and many other necessities. Every game I plan to have cameramen shooting footage and taking professional pictures for aspiring professional players. I am certain that this League can be something kids can do to relieve stress and give less time to dangerous behavior. Hopefully with tremendous support this Summer League can be an annual occurence, not just a one year thing. I believe that I can really take this league to another level, I just need everyone's help.
