For the past 20+ years Walter Tragert has been gracing Austin stages with his clever and heartfelt songwriting, along with his immense charm and wit as a performer.
For over 12 years the lucky children and families of the Armstrong Community Music School were able to claim this talented musician as their very own “Mr. Walter”. With an amazingly instinctive way of connecting straight to the hearts of his students, Walter became an instant favorite at our school. Even to this day, parents of now high school students recall how wonderful their classes with Mr. Walter were.
As you may know Walter has switched gears so that he can concentrate on his health, dealing with multiple sclerosis, a disease that he has lived with for 10 years.
Walter is in immediate need of some very basic items. We would like to provide Walter with funds to help in anyway that we can, but particularly with his housing and transportation needs. Specifically, we’d like to help with the purchase of his own trailer and structural modifications to the trailer, a van with hand controls, a wheelchair or motorized chair, and other needs that will certainly arise.
We are reaching out because we have already been asked by many of you how to help. We encourage you to give what you can for this wonderful man. We may have already located a trailer and a van but are in need of funding those items sooner rather than later.
Mr. Walter has blessed and touched literally hundreds of families and children. It would be wonderful if we could in turn touch and bless his life with our financial support. With many helping hands, we can hopefully alleviate these important needs so that Walter can get back to the business of making magic with his music.
