For the Love of Luke

Donation protected
On July 14, 2018, after a trip to the doctor for what was seemingly a common cold, turned out to be a much more devastating diagnosis. At just 13 years old, Luke Getchell has been diagnosed with AML or Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML is a fast growing cancer of the bone marrow and blood cells. This form of cancer is so rare that only 730 pediatric cases are diagnosed each year. Luke is an active preteen who loves to go camping, is an avid Lego builder and video game fan.

Luke's stepfather, Jimmy Johnson is a retired Goochland County Police Officer after 20+ years of service and his mother, Lisa Johnson and Luke's father, Mr. Getchell have not left his bedside since the diagnosis and are simply an example of strength. Both of his parents are active members of Bethel United Methodist Church in Goochland County, Va. After countless years of outreaches and serving the community, lets help this family ease the financial load of medical and living expenses as they stay at Luke's side.

Whether you are able to donate or not, we are asking that you consider joining the Nationwide Donor Registry for Bone Marrow Transplants through BeTheMatch.org. Luke is currently waiting on a BMT match among with many other people nationwide.
