UoN Cricket Clubs run for Opening Up Cricket

Having run a total of 3198 runs throughout the competition, England won the Cricket World Cup at Lord’s Cricket Ground. So, in a year where there has been a lack of cricket, University of Nottingham Men's and Ladies' Cricket Clubs thought they’d do their own sporting challenge. The aim is to run the distance from Trent Bridge Cricket Ground to Lord’s, the 3198 runs, and back to Trent Bridge. This is a total of 464km!!

63% of 18-25 year olds have said that lockdown has had a negative effect on their mental health. So, we have decided to raise money for Opening Up Cricket. Opening Up Cricket is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes mental wellbeing and suicide prevention through cricket clubs.  Their sessions include providing players and coaches with mental skills and fitness for cricket and life, taking care of wellbeing, looking out for team mates, and signposting to support available.

This charity run will take place between the 23rd November and the 6th December. Our collective aim is to raise £750. Opening Up Cricket is a not-for-profit organisation, so our donations will be made through the purchase of items, such as t shirts and key-rings.

This is a fantastic cause and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
