UofG Guyana Expedition 2019

Donation protected
The University of Glasgow's Guyana Expedition Team 2019 will spend six weeks in to the Kanuku Mountains Protected Area, an area of pristine rainforest in the deep, hard to reach interior of Guyana.
Projects will be carried out to investigate the incredible animals found in one of the most biodiverse areas on Earth. The team will look specifically at amphibian and bat diversity, richness and population health, whilst also gaining an appreciation for the remoteness and uniqueness of the environment.

Living conditions are hard, sleeping in hammocks in basic wood structure camps, and carrying everything needed for the full six weeks into the remote rainforest by hand and by oxcart.

As well as the scientific knowledge and practical skills the team will learn from this expedition, each member will leave Guyana with a deeper appreciation for its People and its culture, and will have engaged in public outreach activities both in Glasgow and Guyana, to spread the importance of conservation and habitat protection in an ever changing climate.

We hope you can help us with our extensive fundraising efforts, and every contribution, no matter how small, will help us on our way to the Kanuka Mountains.
