Hi, I am a friend of Cyrene Tolosa Gersalia who is based in Bacolod City , Philippines. I am humbly asking for your assistance to support outstanding hospital bills, funeral expenses, and emergency financial support for the 3 little girls of the late Cyrene Gersalia. She unexpectedly passed away on the 26th of February 2025 due to a fat embolism from a broken thigh bone.

On the 22nd of February, she suffered a motorcycle accident. She broke her thigh bone and was initially quoted 4,000 USD to get surgery done ASAP, or they could get it done cheaper for 1,000 USD but would be scheduled 6 days later. Due to financial constraint, they chose the latter, not knowing that a fat embolism and death would be a risk of prolonging surgery.

The risks of their decision to prolong surgery was not properly explained to them and if it were, they would have pushed for her to have surgery sooner. A fat embolism is a piece of marrow that breaks off and blocks the blood vessel of the heart or lung.

On the 26th of February, she suddenly developed difficulty breathing and suddenly went to cardiac arrest. Rescuscitation efforts were unsuccessful which left the family devastated and angry. They have filed a complaint regarding negligence and are fighting for justice for Cyrene. Her death could have been completely avoided if only there was clear communication from the doctors of the hospital about the risk of prolonging surgery.

Cyrene was only 34 years old. A mother to 3 little girls under 8 years old.

Her family is still gathering donations to be able to hold a humble funeral and memorial. It would also help a lot to have some left over funds to help her husband and 3 young children get by in the next few months without their mother.
