<div>Seit dem Jahr 2008 lädt der Tanztheater Erfurt e.V. - ein gemeinnütziger und mildtätiger Verein - alle zwei Jahre zum <strong>Internationalen Tanztheater Festival </strong>nach Erfurt ein. Über die Jahre hinweg hat sich dieses Festival als feste Größe in der regionalen und überregionalen Kultur- und Tanzszene etabliert. Vom <strong>4. Oktober bis zum 14. November 2026</strong> bietet das diesjährige Festival dem Publikum die einmalige Gelegenheit, eine enorme Vielfalt an inspirierenden und bewegenden Eindrücken in aktuelle Strömungen der gegenwärtigen Tanzszene zu erhalten.

<div><strong>Unter dem Motto "Exchange!" öffnen wir mit der 10. Festivalausgabe Türen für neue internationale Partnerschaften, für Inklusion durch Tanz und für Formate, die Grenzen zwischen Publikum und Bühne, Kunst und Gesellschaft aufheben. Wir wollen mit Kunst und Tanz im Besonderen Sichtbarkeit für gesellschaftlich relevante Themen schaffen und Anreize bieten, in den Dialog zu treten. </strong>

<div>Das geplante Festivalprogramm 2026 umfasst unter anderem:

<li>Die Premiere des neuen Kinderstücks <strong>Der Nussknacker</strong>, erarbeitet von Kursleiterinnen des Tanztheater Erfurt, es tanzt die Junior Company des Tanztheater Erfurt
</li>
<li><strong>Bolero City. Tanzinterventionen im urbanen Alltag</strong>: Kurze tänzerische Performances im Erfurter Stadtraum, an verschiedenen Transferorten wie Einkaufszentren oder einer Mensa wird ein künstlerischer Akzent im Alltagsgeschehen gesetzt; es tanzen professionelle Tänzerinnen und Mitglieder der Junior Company des Tanztheater Erfurt gemeinsam

<li>Die Premiere der neuen Produktion <strong>David Bowie. Ich, Viele</strong>. Inspiriert von Bowies Vielschichtigkeit und der ständigen Neuerfindung seiner künstlerischen Identität setzt sich die interdisziplinäre Tanz- und Musikproduktion mit Fragen nach Identität, Vielfalt und persönlicher Entwicklung auseinander

<li>Die Premiere der neuen Produktion <strong>Die Frau im Mond</strong>. Dieses inklusive Tanztheaterstück auf zeitgenössischer Basis mit multimedialem Ansatz zeigt, dass Kunst nicht an Körperlichkeiten gebunden ist.

<li>Drei <strong>Gastspiele </strong>aus dem In- und Ausland
</li>
<li>Den Tanzwettwerb <strong>contact.energy'26</strong>: Der europaweit ausgeschriebene Wettbewerb richtet sich an Solos, Duos und Trios und ermöglicht die Präsentation einer große Bandbreite exzellenter tänzerischer Darbietungen in nur einer Veranstaltung

<li>Verschiedene Tanzworkshops
</li>

<div>Um das Festival wie geplant umsetzen zu können, benötigen wir Unterstützung.
</div>
<div>Im Vergleich zu den Vorjahren fallen an verschiedenen Stellen deutlich erkennbare Mehrkosten an. Beispielsweise im Hinblick auf Mietkosten der Proben- und Spielstätten oder die Reisekosten der eingeladenen Künstler:innen.
</div>
<div>Vergleichbare finanzielle Herausforderungen betreffen nicht nur das Tanztheater Erfurt, sondern eine Vielzahl an Kulturakteur:innen. Das wiederum wirkt sich auf die Menge der gestellten Förderanträge aus – so sehr, dass viele Fördermitteltöpfe derzeit gar keine neuen Anträge mehr zulassen. Oder die bewilligten Fördersummen fallen, aus dem Wunsch heraus, möglichst viele Projekte zu unterstützen, deutlich niedriger als die Antragssummen aus.

<div>Das 10. Internationale Tanztheater Festival wird gefördert von der Kulturstiftung Thüringen, der Stadt Erfurt und der Sparkasse Mittelthüringen. Das neue Kinderstück ist durch eine Förderung durch das Thüringer Ministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur bereits vollständig gesichert. Darüber hinaus unterstützen uns das Institut Français und das SpendenParlament der BürgerStiftung Erfurt bei einzelnen Programmpunkten.
</div>
<div><strong>Und dennoch gilt es, eine letzte Finanzierungslücke zu schließen, um das geplante Programm ohne weitere Kürzungen umsetzen zu können. Ohne zusätzliche finanzielle Unterstützung können wir nicht alle der genannten Programminhalte umsetzen.</strong> Wir möchten euch unbedingt ein künstlerisch anspruchsvolles und vielseitiges Festivalprogramm anbieten – ohne weitere Einsparungen vornehmen zu müssen.

<div>Since 2008, Tanztheater Erfurt e.V. – a non-profit and charitable organisation – has been hosting the <strong>International Dance Theatre Festival </strong>(Internationales Tanztheater Festival) in Erfurt every two years. Over the years, this festival has established itself as a fixture in the regional and national cultural and dance scenes. <strong>From 4 October to 14 November 2026</strong>, this year’s festival offers audiences a unique opportunity to experience an enormous variety of inspiring and moving impressions of current trends in the contemporary dance scene.
</div>
<div><strong>Under the motto “Exchange!”, this 10th edition of the festival opens the door to new international partnerships, to inclusion through dance, and to formats that break down the barriers between audience and stage, art and society. Through art, and dance in particular, we aim to raise awareness of socially relevant issues and encourage dialogue.</strong>

<div>The planned programme for the 2026 festival includes, amongst other things:

<li>The premiere of the new children’s production <strong>The Nutcracker </strong>(Der Nussknacker), developed by course leaders from Tanztheater Erfurt, performed by the Tanztheater Erfurt Junior Company
</li>
<li><strong>Bolero City. Dance interventions in everyday urban life </strong>(Bolero City. Tanzinterventionen im urbanen Alltag): short dance performances across Erfurt’s urban spaces; at various venues such as shopping centres or a canteen, an artistic touch is added to everyday life; performed jointly by professional dancers and members of the Tanztheater Erfurt Junior Company
</li>
<li>The premiere of the new production <strong>David Bowie. Me, Many </strong>(David Bowie. Ich, Viele). Inspired by Bowie’s multifaceted nature and the constant reinvention of his artistic identity, this interdisciplinary dance and music production explores questions of identity, diversity and personal development
</li>
<li>The premiere of the new production <strong>The Woman in the Moon </strong>(Die Frau im Mond). This inclusive, contemporary dance theatre piece with a multimedia approach demonstrates that art is not bound by physicality.
</li>
<li>Three guest performances from Germany and abroad
</li>
<li>The <strong>dance competition contact.energy’26</strong>: This Europe-wide competition is open to solos, duos and trios and enables a wide range of excellent dance performances to be presented in a single event
</li>
<li>Various dance workshops
</li>

<div>In order to stage the festival as planned, we need your support.
</div>
<div>Compared with previous years, there are significant additional costs in various areas. For example, with regard to the hire costs for rehearsal and performance venues, or the travel expenses of the invited artists.
</div>
<div>Similar financial challenges affect not only Tanztheater Erfurt, but a wide range of cultural organisations. This, in turn, is having an impact on the number of funding applications being submitted – to such an extent that many funding bodies are currently no longer accepting new applications at all. Alternatively, in a bid to support as many projects as possible, the amounts of funding awarded are significantly lower than the sums requested.

<div>The 10th International Dance Theatre Festival is supported by the Kulturstiftung Thüringen (Thuringia Cultural Foundation), the City of Erfurt and Sparkasse Mittelthüringen. Funding for the new children’s production has already been fully secured through a grant from the TMBWK (Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture). In addition, the Institut Français and the SpendenParlament of the BürgerStiftung Erfurt are supporting us with individual programme items.

<div><strong>And yet, we still need to close one final funding gap in order to be able to deliver the planned programme without further cuts. Without additional financial support, we will not be able to stage all the programme elements mentioned. </strong>We are keen to offer you an artistically ambitious and varied festival programme – without having to make any further cutbacks.
