Unsheltered Richmond: Magnifying Voices

Donation protected
Unsheltered Richmond is a public media project using podcasts and videos to magnify the voices  of unhoused people in our community.  Our videos and podcasts are made by housed and unhoused group members. These works are designed to bring personal stories of housing insecurity in Richmond, California to a larger audience. By doing so, we hope to change people's understandings of what it means to experience life without stable housing. Our videos show how high rents and hard times drive people out of their homes, and how the unhoused then face an uphill battle as they work to navigate  a broken system.

We need YOUR HELP to fund our project.  Your donations will compensate our filmmakers and support our webpage.

Our group was formed this year.  Our community partners include:

SOS! Richmond Safe Organized Spaces

Richmond Progressive Alliance

ACCE

Today we have hours and hours of recording, a few videos made so far, and dozens more in the making.  Our goal is to build a model that can be reproduced in other places, and  become a way to provide jobs and compensation for people experiencing housing instability.

Eventually we  intend to use these materials to guide policymakers, as part of a larger goal of addressing housing insecurity on personal, neighborhood, and institutional levels.
