The UNM Lobo Hockey team participates in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
Your UNM Lobo Hockey team is ranked #4 in ACHA Division 3 rankings. This is the highest ranking in team history, and with a current record of 22-2, the team keeps rolling toward the ACHA National Championship Tournament in St. Louis, held March 10-15, 2022. Additionally, this team is primarily made up of New Mexico residents!
The team is asking for donations to help decrease the financial burden on players. Your support will directly support team expenses for the National Championship tournament and a Regional Tournament before Nationals. Each player is required to pay for their airfare. Fundraising will help fund additional games to help prepare the team, and tournament expenses (ground transportation, meals, and hotel rooms for 20 players). The team will require $16,000 for both of the remaining tournaments (Regional and Nationals).
Fundraising details: Neal Weaver is the parent of one of the UNM Lobo Hockey members, and has created this fundraiser on behalf of the entire team and coaching staff. Per UNM policies and procedures, Funds raised will be delivered to the UNM Associated Students program, from which the Lobo Hockey team will be able to request reimbursements for expenses. Such expenses will likely include, but are not limited to the following tournament and tournament preparation expenses: extra practice ice and games, ground transportation, hotels, meals, and coach travel. Between the final two tournaments, the UNM Lobo Hockey team will be in St. Louis for 11 days (9 nights of hotels stays, meals and transportation). Each player is responsible for his own airfare. As an example, expected hotel costs will total just under $7000, and meals for players and coaching staff are expected to cost nearly $7500.
