<div>Earlier in the year, we met Nuriat, an inspiring 18-year-old from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Leaving internal conflicts and war behind, she went to Uganda and landed in the Rwawwanja settlement. Although Nuriat faces stark adversity, she dreams of creating sustainable livelihoods for her community. Like over 35 million refugees worldwide, Nuriat battles every day to make ends meet because there are very few resources and opportunities. Trapped in an endless aid cycle, their creativity and talents go untapped. Despite this immense hardship, Nuriat offers workshops for women to become more self-reliant. Her aspiration echoes refugees’ sentiments worldwide, brimming with dreams but lacking the means.

<div>This is where we come in. At Team Spirit International (TSI), we see the monumental potential of refugees. We exist to co-create livelihood opportunities with refugees to empower a paradigm shift where refugees are the heroes of their own destinies and uplift their whole community towards stability and prosperity. So everyone can thrive, not only survive.

<div><strong>What have we done so far</strong>
</div>
<div>We have been part of four startup incubators, won two grants from <strong>Harvard programs</strong>, conducted <strong>50+ expert interviews,</strong> and surveyed over<strong> 200 refugees.</strong> But most importantly, we launched our pilot program - the Agroecology and Business Bootcamp’ catalyzing our vision. In our 5-day vocational training, we equipped 59 refugees with sustainable farming and business techniques to build self-reliant livelihoods. With <strong>only 9’000 Dollars</strong>, we distributed over<strong> 200 tools</strong>, provided <strong>5x the monthly stipend</strong>, formed <strong>6 farmer collectives </strong>and achieved the following impact:

<div><strong>What’s next: MORE Impact</strong>
</div>
<div>TSI is transitioning to an ecosystem-enabling model to break down silos and create effective synergies for greater collective impact to advocate for effective self-reliance models. The overarching goal is to design cost-effective, sustainable interventions through coordinated, collaborative change-making that move the needle on refugees' ability to thrive independently.

<div><strong>High-Impact Incubator: </strong>TSI is launching a multi-stakeholder high-impact venture incubator program bringing together ambitious students and refugee leaders to focus on critical projects on women empowerment, climate resilience and food security. This is a unique in its kind model where high impact entrepreneurship, personal development and university students and refugee-led organizations come together to build impact moonshots.

<div><strong>Training of Trainers (TOT): </strong>On top of that, we will facilitate a training for trainers from across Uganda who will learn how to conduct the High Impact Incubator and teach it to aspiring entrepreneurs in their own settlement.

<div>So during July 22 to 26, 2024, we will teach the curriculum to 30 trainers who will then teach it to roughly 300 entrepreneurs. 
</div>

If ignored, their suffering will only increase especially with intensifying climate change effects and ongoing conflicts. The time is now to shift from short-term relief to lasting empowerment.

<div>Zu Beginn des Jahres trafen wir Nuriat, eine inspirierende 18-Jährige aus der Demokratischen Republik Kongo. <div>Hier kommen wir ins Spiel. Bei Team Spirit International (TSI) sehen wir das enorme Potenzial von Flüchtlingen. Wir wollen gemeinsam mit den Flüchtlingen Möglichkeiten zur Existenzsicherung schaffen, um einen Paradigmenwechsel herbeizuführen, bei dem die Flüchtlinge die Helden ihres eigenen Schicksals sind und ihrer gesamten Gemeinschaft zu Stabilität und Wohlstand verhelfen. So können alle gedeihen und nicht nur überleben.

<div><strong>Was wir bisher erreicht haben</strong>

<div>Wir haben an vier Startup-Inkubatoren teilgenommen, zwei Zuschüsse von Harvard-Programmen erhalten, mehr als <em>50 Experteninterviews</em> geführt, über <em>200 Flüchtlinge</em> befragt und über<em> 10'000 USD</em> gesammelt. Am wichtigsten ist jedoch, dass wir unser Pilotprogramm - das<strong> Agroecology and Business Bootcamp" </strong>- lanciert haben, das als Katalysator für unsere Vision dient. In unserer fünftägigen Berufsausbildung haben wir <strong>59 Flüchtlingen</strong> nachhaltige landwirtschaftliche und unternehmerische Techniken vermittelt, damit sie sich eine eigenständige Existenz aufbauen können. Mit nur 8'000 Dollar haben wir über <strong>200 Werkzeuge</strong> und <strong>5x des monatlichen Stipendiums</strong> verteilt, <strong>6 Bauernkollektive </strong>gegründet und die folgende Wirkung erzielt:

Es ist jetzt an der Zeit, von kurzfristiger Hilfe zu dauerhafter Befähigung überzugehen.
