Humanity Responds: Fundraiser for #LahoreBlast Victims' Families
#IStandWithPakistan #PrayforLahore

On Sunday, March 27,  a suicide bombing at a public park in Lahore, Pakistan claimed the lives of at least 60 people and injured hundreds more. The attack targeted those celebrating the Easter holiday with their families. Reports indicate that most of those killed or injured are women and children. Area hospitals are overwhelmed and running short of supplies and blood.

Religious intolerance and sectarian strife have no place in Islam and no place in Pakistan. Our prayers are with Pakistan and all those affected. My family and I live in Maryland, USA. My sister-in-law is a physician at one of the area hospitals in Lahore where some of the victims of the Lahore terror attack were transported. Together, we have  consulted with trusted family and friends in Lahore, PK and launched this fundraising campaign to raise money to support the families of the victims, and to send a strong, unequivocal message that we WILL NOT TOLERATE these cowardly attempts to divide and destroy our beloved Pakistan along cultural, religious or any other lines.

This money will be directly distributed by either myself or my trusted family members to the victims who were transported to Sheikh Zayed and Jinnah Hospitals in Lahore, PK by my family members. We have been requested to not donate money raised through this campaign to humanitarian organizations on the ground in order to ensure that all the funds go to the families who have been directly affected by this deadly attack. A portion of the funds raised will be used to set up a scholarship fund for children who have lost one or both parents in this attack.

All are encouraged to donate, share and support this effort to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and to provide some measure of relief to these grief-stricken families who are now simply struggling to cope in the tragic aftermath. Religious and secular institutions, leaders, scholars, and groups are encouraged to endorse this campaign by sharing it with their communities and networks.

Thank you for your generosity and support. Please continue to keep the victims of the senseless Lahore attack - and victims of all terrorist attacks - in your prayers.

** NOTE: The full amount of donations were not released by GoFundMe admin before I and my family returned to the USA from Pakistan in early April 2016. I am working to have these funds released to me asap, and am coordinating logistics to personally disburse the remainder funds directly to victims and their families on my next trip to Pakistan. I hope to make the trip in November 2016.
