United with Maria José

My granddaughter, Maria José, is the light of my eyes. And she is the sweet and tender heart of all our family. She lives in Bogota, Colombia, along with her mother, Alexandra, and her 5 year old sister, Antonia.
At age 16, she is dealing with one of the most fearsome brain cancers that a human being can face, which was detected by mere chance during a routine medical checkup in July 2017.
A Grade III HIPERVENTICULAR ANAPLASTIC ASTROCYTOMA.
A type of cancer that affects mostly adults over age 55.
However, life has chosen that my granddaughter has to face death in her teens, by giving her this rare type of malignant brain tumor.
Her probability of survival, after a first and delicate surgery, depends on an aggressive and costly cutting edge chemo and radiotherapy treatment, which has been applied successfully by Swiss cancer medicine.
In spite of all this, Maria José continues to smile, and keeps her motivation and her hopes up, and doesn’t let any of us near her who love her, lose hope, even for a second, and does not want to allow death to rob her from her dreams and her life.
Her willpower and capacity to keep fighting are stronger than her physical strength, which being a victim of that slow and silent killer, is starting to show the first signs of its decay.
The cost of her cancer treatment has been estimated at $11,000 a month, for as long as is needed, and that could mean as much as a year.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you, to ask for your help and generosity, on behalf of Maria José and her mother, who don’t have the means to face this calamity alone.

A sus tan solo 16 años enfrenta uno de los canceres más temibles que puede enfrentar un ser humano.
Un cancer de cerebro,detectado de forma casual durante un chequeo médico de rutina.
ASTROCITOMA ANAPLASICO HIPERVENTICULAR de tercer grado.
Un tipo de cancer que solamente afecta en su mayoría a adultos mayores de 55 años.
Pero ha querido la vida que mi nieta enfrente a la muerte en plena adolescencia. Al afectarla con este raro tipo de tumor cerebral maligno.
Sus probabilidades de supervivencia después de una primera y delicada cirugía dependen de un agresivo y costoso tratamiento de quimio y radioterapia de  tecnología médica de punta, que ha sido aplicado exitosamente por la medicina oncologica suiza.
Maria José mantiene su sonrisa, su ánimo, sus esperanzas, sus sueños, no permite que nadie de los que la rodeamos y amamos, desfallezca siquiera por un momento.
Su voluntad y su capacidad de lucha son superiores a su resistencia física que víctima de ese asesino lento y silencioso comienza ya a mostrar sus primeras consecuencias.
Pero a pesar de todo,sonríe, no quiere permitir que a sus 16 años la muerte le arrebate sus sueños y su vida.
Su tratamiento oncologico ha sido presupuestado en $11.000 mensuales mientras sea necesario y ese necesario puede ser de tanto como de un año.

Por favor en nombre de mi hija Alexandra su madre que reside en Colombia y que no cuenta con los medios necesarios para enfrentar esta calamidad acudo a su ayuda y generosidad.
