Uninsured Family Faces Unexpected Medical Tragedy

The Human Rights Coalition of Alachua County is fundraising to help a local immigrant family (a mother, father and 2 children) facing an unexpected medical tragedy. A month ago, the mother suffered a catastrophic brain aneurysm and has since been hospitalized, needing 24 hour care. She will be discharged in the next few weeks, and her family will be trained to care for her at home. The family faces the difficult reality that needing 24 hr care may be her new normal. Having resided in the United States for the last 15 years, the father is the family's sole breadwinner. He is now also the sole caretaker for his 12yr old daughter, 15yr old son, and now his wife. They are a family of scarce resources, and the mother is not eligible for health insurance. Please consider donating to help this family absorb medical costs, as they look for help providing 24 hour care for the wife, especially while the husband is at work.
