Javier is a devoted husband, loving father and caring grandfather, who was forced to flee his native country of Venezuela due to safety concerns and death treats. They thought they were finally safe until their lives changed again when Javier had a seizure on February 20th, 2019. He was rushed to the hospital and after a MRI it was found that Javier had a tumor in his brain. Under the doctors recommendation due to the location of the tumor, Javier was to wait 2-3 weeks and repeat the MRI to see if the tumor had changed, moved or grown. Unfortunately, with Javier's current immigration status he is unable to work and could not come up with the funds for the costly test.
On April 30th, 2019 Javier was again rushed to the hospital as he was having dizzy spells, had trouble speaking, writing and reading. At the hospital a second MRI was performed and it showed that the tumor had nearly grown 5 times it's size and urgent enough to merit an emergency surgery. On May 2nd, 2019 Javier had brain surgery where his amazing surgeon and medical team were able to remove 80-90% of the tumor with little side effects.


The tumor was biopsied and on May 15th, 2019 it was confirmed that Javier is suffering from a Glioblastoma. A stage 4 glioma that is very aggressive. For Phase 1 of his treatment Javier will require 33 sessions of Radiation and Chemotherapy to help stop the tumor from growing. All those who know Javier can attest to him being a man of faith, who puts his family above all else. He is a very sociable and caring man. Javier's daughters have helped any and every way possible but the cancer treatments are too much for his family to bare. Due to the aggressive nature of his cancer the Oncologist is urging he start treatment immediately. We are requesting funds as soon as possible so that Javier can begin his treatment, no amount is too small. His family needs support, prayers, and the funds to help him through the rough days ahead. Every and all help is appreciated. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Javier es un esposo devoto, un padre y un abuelo cariñoso, que se vio obligado a huir de su país natal, Venezuela, debido a preocupaciones de seguridad y crisis humanitaria. Pensaron que estaban a salvo hasta que su vida cambio repentinamente cuando Javier tuvo una convulsión el 20 de febrero de 2019. Fue trasladado de urgencia al hospital y después de varios exámenes y una resonancia magnética se encontró que Javier tenía un tumor en su cerebro. Bajo la recomendación de los médicos y debido a la ubicación del tumor, el Neurocirujano sugirió a Javier esperar 2-3 semanas y repetir la resonancia magnética para ver si el tumor había cambiado, se había movido o crecido. Desafortunadamente, con el estado migratorio actual de Javier, no puede trabajar y no pudo aportar los fondos para la prueba costosa.
El 30 de abril de 2019, Javier fue llevado de nuevo al hospital presentando nuevos síntomas tales como mareos, problemas para hablar, escribir y leer. En el hospital se realizó una segunda resonancia magnética y mostró que el tumor había aumentado su tamaño hasta 5 veces desde la primera resonancia y era lo suficientemente urgente como para merecer una cirugía de emergencia. El 2 de mayo de 2019, Javier se sometió a una cirugía cerebral (Craneotomía) en la que su increíble cirujano y su equipo médico pudieron extirpar el 80-90% del tumor con pocos efectos secundarios.
Al mismo tiempo se realizó una biopsia del tumor y el 15 de mayo de 2019 se confirmó que Javier padecía un glioblastoma. Un Glioma Grado 4 muy agresivo, sin embargo, como la esperanza es lo último que se pierde, el está dispuesto a luchar para seguir viviendo. Para la Fase 1 de su tratamiento, Javier requerirá 33 sesiones de radiación y quimioterapia para ayudar a detener el crecimiento del tumor y así él pueda tener mejores probabilidades en la lucha contra este Cáncer.
