<div>Unfortunately, I received news I was hoping I'd never have to share.
</div>

<div>My latest bone marrow biopsy showed that the NPM1 mutation is still present. With Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), even a small amount of disease means it will eventually continue to spread until my bone marrow can no longer produce the healthy blood cells my body needs to survive.
</div>

</div>
<div>After many conversations and a lot of soul-searching, I've decided not to pursue a stem cell transplant.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The transplant offers about a 50/50 chance of remission, but it would likely mean spending the next two years enduring an incredibly difficult treatment process. Even then, about a third of patients relapse afterward. Instead, I've chosen maintenance therapy—a much lower dose of chemotherapy along with blood and platelet transfusions as needed. This path won't cure my leukemia, but it gives me the best chance at having meaningful time with a good quality of life.

<div>Because of that decision, I'm changing the purpose of this GoFundMe.
</div>

</div>
<div>Instead of helping cover treatment costs, it will now help me live the time I have left.
</div>

<div>Some of it will go toward making memories with the people I love. Some of it will help cover my final wishes, including prepaying for my cremation so that burden doesn't fall on Yaz when the time comes.

<div>I've always believed that life isn't measured by how many years we get, but by the moments that make those years matter.
</div>

</div>
<div>So here's what I'd love to do while I still can:

<div>Take one more epic road trip with Yaz down the Pacific Coast, from Seattle to Los Angeles, with stops in Vegas, Hearst Castle, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, Area15, and visits with friends along the way.
</div>
<div>Go to the Supernatural Convention here in Salt Lake City this January. I went once before with Brooke, and it remains one of my favorite experiences. Supernatural has been my comfort show for years, and getting to celebrate it one more time would mean the world to me.
</div>
<div>Visit Hawaii as an adult. I haven't been since I was about three years old. I was named after Queen Kapiʻolani, and I'd love to visit the islands and the places connected to her. The ocean has always felt like home.
</div>
<div>Finally cuddle a tiger or panther. (Yes, this one has been on my list forever. I know... I'm a little weird.)
</div>
<div>Somehow, someway, convince Snoop Dogg, Martha Stewart, and Kathy Bates to let me hang out, get a little stoned, and cook together. If anyone has those connections... now would be a fantastic time.
</div>

<div>Most importantly, spend as much time as possible with all of you—my family, my framily, my community, and my friends. You have been there through the best and worst moments of my life, and I can't imagine this journey without you.

<div>There were bigger dreams on my list—Japan and Iceland among them—but with maintenance chemo and the possibility of needing blood transfusions on short notice, international travel just isn't realistic anymore. So I'm focusing on the adventures that are still within reach.
</div>
