Unexpected medical event (disease)
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Ylis Morales. As most of you know, I live in Florida however am currently working in PR temporarily. An unexpected event occurred on December 17th, 2023. I suffered a heart attack and had to be rushed to the ER and was hospitalized immediately after lab work confirmed I had suffered a heart attack of moderate level. I was hospitalized for 4 days and released to go home and rest. I'm not allowed to drive, work or travel back to my home in Florida. I would like to mention that all these hospital expenses aren't covered by medical insurance since I only work here and my medical insurance is for medical coverage in Florida where I live and where all my doctors are. As you all know hospital bills get high very quickly.
I was rushed to get a more test done since the heart enzyme levels, on the 4th hour, had increased even after IV medications where already being provided to stabilize and prevent me from having another heart attack. At this time is when they said I was still active with the heart attack and it was of moderate level (damage) to the heart and needed to be rushed to get the catheterization done to see the main arteries of the heart and make sure I didn't have blockages that needed to be fixed that might be provoking the heart attack. The catheterization showed I had apparently suffered damage on my right coronary artery from the heat attack. Other test where performed while I was being bombarded with medications through the IV such as X-rays, countless EKG's, echocardiogram, lots of lab work, etc.
Here is where I gracefully ask for help/donations. I only work in PR and as I mentioned before I didn't have medical insurance at the time so hospital bills are pilling up as well as the monthly housing bills. As most of you might know, after a heart attack, you are sent home to rest and recover and the recovery period is a long one.
I work on a fee for service basis, so I don't accumulate vacations, sick days or PTO. If I don't work I don't get paid. I'm currently living off of my savings which can only stretch so far before they are all gone. Needless to say that this is a extremely hard thing to do for me, my family and friends can attest that, asking for help is NOT MY FORTE! I live an altruistic life so helping others and paying it forward is a big part of my life! I am gracefully and gratefully asking for help/donations this time for me. I guess life determined it was my turn now to receive and accept help from others temporarily so I can focus on my recovery, am able to work again and continue with my purpose in life of impacting others with my profession and at a personal level.
There are two different ways to help. Donate or share the page to family and friends. I thank you all in advance and needless to say that once I get back on my feet again. I will most certainly pay it forward one way or another as I have done in the past. Thank you for taking the time to read my story! God bless you!
