On October 2, Habtom Shishay (Slesh) lost his life suddenly and unexpectedly. Habtom was a loving father and a dedicated husband. Our goal is to raise money for the family he leaves behind—his wife Ruta and their four little children—to help with any costs they will incur.
Habtom was born in Senafe, Eritrea on January 11, 1981. He served in the Eritrean National Service and few years later, leaving his wife and kids behind in Eritrea, Habtom moved to Ethiopia in 2009, then Israel and eventually settled in Calgary, Canada in 2017. Adjusting to his new environment was not easy for Habtom, he worked day and night to support himself and his family back home. After 10 years of separation, he was reunited with his family on September 10, 2019. His hard work had paid off and his dreams had finally come true.
Unfortunately, his dream was shortly lived, exactly three weeks after reuniting his family, at just 38 years old Habtom was tragically killed in a fatal accident. Devastated and brand new to the country his wife will now have to navigate alone with their four children. Their oldest child is 12 and their youngest is 5. This would be a tough task for anyone and with all of the emotional pain and stress that a death brings, it also brings financial burdens.
Please give as you can to support this family as they find their way through this tough transition. We are thankful for any support you may be able to provide.
