Kathy's Courageous Cancer Crusade

On January 23 , 2017, 9 years after her original diagnosis of cancer, my sister Kathy (Jude) Meyer received the news no one was expecting, the mystery cancer had reared its ugly head again; Stage 4 Metatstaic Goblet Cell Carcinoid of the ovary with an unknown  primary source had now spread throughout her abdomen. Needless to say we were all shocked. She was feeling fine and had passed the "magic" 5 year cancer free mark ,this was not how it was supposed to work.  Since the recurrence she has had a massive abdominal surgery called a HIPEC,spent 12 days in the hospital and has been undergoing chemotherapy and will continue doing so until late October depending on how the cancer reacts to the treatment.  Kathy is determined to beat this cancer again!

My sister has always been known for her strength, independence, love of her family and new adventures. Since the loss of both of our parents to cancer in our twenties she has been of unwavering strength and inspiration to me  Since then , along with her original diagnosis she has always tried to live her life in the moment and not take anything for granted. She has focused on her faith and her family to give her strength. She has been the behind the scences worker you can always count on, the one helping out , not the one needing help. The last 36 months have been rough for Kathy and Brad to say the least. From Brad being laid off from work twice and Kathy's cancer re-diagnosis they have done everything in their control to keep life as"normal" as possible for their family , but they need help now.  

Because her cancer is so rare many of her procedures, treatment and medication are being classified as "experimental" and so the medical bills not covered by insurance are mounting roughly $126,000 to this point.  Since the recurrance Kathy has not been able to work and Brad has been left to juggle her care, the kids needs, and his work schedule. I know the community around them has been wonderful at providing prayers, meals, rides and emotional support but they now need monetary support as well.  No amount is too big or too small so please support Kathy , Brad, Jack and Nicole with a donation as she battles this cruel disease again.

I know Brad and Kathy have gone above and beyond volunteering and helping others and I hope now we can go above and beyond for them. They are more grateful than you will ever know for all the support they have and will receive.
