Under Pressure Documentary

Under Pressure is a documentary about the amazing people of Ukraine, and how ordinary citizens are coming together in extraordinary ways to make a difference at a pivotal moment in history. 

 

This project is of deep personal importance to me because my grandfather's family escaped Ukraine during the first wave of Bolshevik persecution after World War 1. Decades later when the Soviet Union collapsed, my grandfather was invited back to Russia to help the new government understand and expand religious training, and that's where he met a bright young seminarian named Alexander Negrov.  My grandfather handpicked Alexander as a top student to come to N. America on scholarship, and my father was a mentor to him during his studies in Canada. Alexander has since founded the Hodos Institute; an organization dedicated to understanding and teaching ethical leadership to a new generation...and like so many, he is now living those principles in assistance to his country. Through Alexander's eyes I've witnessed the courage of numerous average Ukrainians throwing themselves into harm's way to help one another. There is something big happening in Ukraine...this is a clarion moment for the church. The stories are deeply inspiring and I want to share them with the world. 

 

Money raised from this page will go directly to the U.S. office of the Hodos Institute, who have graciously agreed to facilitate the financial side of the production and offer charitable receipts. In cooperation with a Dutch documentary company called "Reveal", we are making a 6-episode docuseries about what God is doing to and through the church in Ukraine, in 2022.  Funds raised will specifically be used to supply film and safety equipment for our camera crews in Ukraine; fund travel within Ukraine; hire editors, translators and other production-related professionals and implement a social media strategy. We also have a number of production staff in the US/Netherlands who have been working part-time on this project for free, and we need to hire them to focus on this project more exclusively.
