All too many times we become complacent and our daily routines are looked at as comfortable and safe. Deviating from these routines create displeasure, our attitudes shift, the grind goes off kilter, and we become jaded about simplicity. It is human nature to take things for granted and the human condition has aided in obscuring “true” perspective to the point we cannot find it or even know where to look for it when we need it most.
Three years ago, the Uhlir family was dealt a swift blow with the discovery of Molly’s esophageal cancer. Through multiple surgeries, trips to the doctor and scans, she received a clean bill of health just under one year of starting her fight. Molly beat the odds as the deck was stacked against her. Most recently, a routine scan revealed the cancer is back, aggressive, and inoperable. It’s not a fight anymore, it’s war. A war deeply rooted in the essence of creating time and quality of life. This is when “true” perspective exposes a new level of clarity, where routines are shaken, attitudes shift, and an extended family comes together for Unconditional Support and Love in the eye of storm.
Thom and Molly have always given of themselves and in many cases, immeasurable degrees of service through community, church, education, and their work place(s). Many connections have been made through these assemblies as Molly, Thom and Sydney have touched countless lives in positive ways. What we do now as friends, neighbors, and colleagues for the Uhlir family will elongate time and enhance the quality of life that Molly has with her husband and daughter. Please take a moment to think about your own immediate family, and make it a point to help wage this war as an extension of the Uhlir family with your gifts and services. Molly, Thom and Sydney will be forever grateful.
