A Big Hearted Man
There never was a man kinder, or more sincere. Who always knew the right thing to say, and was there to help before you could even ask. He is the life of the party, the light in the room, and the center of the family. Without him, the world is a much sadder place.
Moki Silva is a simple man who indulges in simple pleasures. His greatest love is his family. His greatest accomplishment, raising two wonderful sons who are now starting their own families. And his greatest achievement, his marriage. These are the simple things in life that give him the most joy. He has worked hard his whole life for his family, and still continues to do so. He is the type of father, husband, and friend that will go above and beyond what you could ever ask of him, and once the task is done - all that he wants in return is gratitude.
This big hearted man, whose heart we wish was made of gold. Whose heart we wish was the size and strength of his spirit is now the one who is in need. Our dear friend, our beloved Moki has been having difficulites with his heart.
Four years ago Moki was surfing with his son Keokolo when he had cardiac arrest. His son was there to paddle him out of the water and onto land, where he was able to get help. From there he was rushed to the hospital where he received a pacemaker. This pacemaker has been monitoring his heart, making sure that the beat is strong and steady, and when it isn't - shocks our sweet man.
Starting this holiday season, after spending a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family, upon returning home to Oahu from Maui - Moki's heart has been consistantly going into arithmia, which results in consistantly being shocked. The amazing staff in ICU at Kaiser Permanente Moanlua have taken care of Moki to the best of their ability, and we are so blessed to have a team of nurses and doctors like this here to support and give their all.
The time has come, though, after one failed surgery and multiple episodes, that Moki must leave the islands to get the proper medical care that he requires. He is being transferred to UCLA where the medical staff specializes in these operations and can make sure than Moki will be home with us, laughing and joking just like before.
I, Tina Silva, along with my two boys, Mokihana & Keokolo humbly ask for your support in raising funds for his operations, and the costs of all the medical care he is receiving. If we could pay these costs in the kindness he has shown to the world around him, we would have no problems, but unfortunately the world doesn't work that way.
