Uncle Mike’s Fight of a Lifetime
My youngest brother, Michael – Mike, recently went to the hospital with a really sore back. He woke up the next day with a 12 inch incision on his spine, and a cancer diagnosis.
Pretty crappy? You bet. Mike is 54 years old, the baby of our family, and has been working building up an agricultural business venture with his sons in rural Saskatchewan. Just as their farm business is about to hit its stride, though, Mike's treatment makes it impossible for him to be exposed to any soil or soil minerals for at least 6 months.
Chemo… ass kicking chemo will do that. So now, as his boys take on more work at the farm, relocation into Saskatoon for treatment is a life priority for Mike, regardless of costs and the real impact on personal budgets stretched to the max.
Mike’s family has stepped up as family always do, but Mike and the rest of us would appreciate any help that you could offer.
Knowing Mike like we do, you would know that he will survive; he is a fighter and will not allow this Burkett lymphoma to beat him.
Its an unfair position for Mike, and his boys, but you can help make this fight a little more fair. Your assistance in any amount would be a great help to Mike and his boys and family as they take on the fight of a lifetime.
We have established a budget to cover relocation costs including travel, rent, and groceries. We have a secure place for Mike to live on the days he is allowed out of hospital, and for family to stay and help him manage treatment. The budget is $3,000 per month for at least 6 months.
To get there sixty donations of fifty dollars each month gets over the hurdle, but any amount you could contribute would help us make this an easier time for Mike -- our little brother, uncle, and dad.
