Please support our team as we prepare for the WCLA DI National Tournament in Salt Lake City, UT from May 10-13! We have just accepted our bid, making us 1 of the 16 teams to comptete at Nationals this year!!
We are a completely student-led team. Without coaches, scholarships, sponsors, etc., we are very special in that all our girls play for the love of the game and our love for each other. This makes our team really unique - instilling a sense of responsibility, commitment, and hunger-for-success that fuels our extraordinary dedication. We balance evening practices 3x a week with heavy course loads, part-time jobs, and extensive club involvement (our team represents 29 additional clubs and organizations!!). Last year we nominated three All-Americans, and three of our girls received Academic All-American Honors. We brought home the DII National Titles in 2012 and 2014 - we know what it takes to come out on top.
Aside from the minimal funding we receive from our university, we all pay our own way. Between equipment, refs, hotels and other travel costs, tournament fees, and more, our expenses really add up. Throughout the year, we conduct fundraising efforts through dues, working with youth lacrosse, platelet donation, supporting UNC's varsity sports, selling merchandise, and even hosting our very own home tournament. However, we need YOUR help to ensure we have the financial resources to bring the DI National Title home from Salt Lake City this Spring.
Between hotels, round-trip flights, and rental cars, we estimate these basic necessities alone to cost over $12k. We are continuing our fundraising efforts harder than ever, but we would greatly appreciate anything you may be able to contribute to help us reach our goal.
