<div><strong>On Monday, August 11th, I woke up to a scenario that is one of a pet owner's worst nightmares: my cat had ingested one of my medications.</strong>

<div>I found the chewed up remnants of a Dexedrine 15mg XR capsule, a stimulant used to treat ADHD, and my cat open-mouth panting and pacing in circles. I knew immediately it was an emergency, and rushed her to Animal Medical Center of Seattle for treatment. She was put in the ICU and had to be under close supervision for two overnight stays, <strong>totaling $6078.03 in costs.</strong>

<div>She is a small, ~10lb cat, and she already has anxiety issues/PTSD due to being a rescue from a traumatizing background. This was a very serious situation, and she definitely would have died had I not brought her in. To put this in perspective, 15mg of Dexedrine is too strong for a lot of <em>people, </em>let alone a small cat<em>. </em>I was told when I brought her in, her heart rate was around 300bpm, and she was overheating.

<div>I do not leave my medications out where my pets could find them, this was an unfortunate case of a dropped pill that I couldn't find later turning up in the <em>worst </em>way possible.

<div>I was able to pay off the initial deposit and then some (about 2.3k of this has been paid off in total) thanks to the kindness and generosity of friends and followers, but I am hoping to raise more as <strong>the monthly bill for the payment plan is $282.11</strong>, which is more than I can reasonably afford as a low-income person, and I did not qualify for carecredit. If I can get the monthly bill down to between $100-150 I will be able to pay things off on my own, but the more I am able to raise the better since her existing monthly expenses are on the higher end (I try to buy her the highest quality food I can and she is on prozac which is $80 each month).

<div>Unagi is back home but still symptomatic. It was determined she's safe enough to be back home, but as of 8/14, she still has a high heart/breathing rate, and hasn't eaten. She is still coming off of the meds remaining in her system (which include the heavy sedatives she was put on), and we're not out of the woods yet. I'm keeping a close eye on her, but the recovery has been very tough.

<div>Unagi means everything to me and has saved me when my mental health was at its lowest point many times. I will fight to make sure she's okay but I need help.
