UNACCOMPANIED IMMIGRANT CHILDREN

I will spend my birthday on Sunday training in Texas to spend the week at a detention center helping detained immigrant families. I will be away from family and friends, including my six and three year olds. I will be gone eight days- the longest I have ever been apart from them. Yet, I make this journey knowing that they will be safe and surrounded by love. That they will eat healthy food, go to parks, go to school, sleep in warm beds - be kids. That I can call them and FaceTime with them. The families I am going to see did not have this when their kids were taken away or now that they are in these detention centers.   They are afraid.  My family supports this cause as much as I do. They are sad to see me go but know that I am going to battle the inhumane treatment of these families at the border by providing pro bono legal help.  My six year old bought me a military jacket for the trip. He wanted to make sure that I was ready to fight. This trip is possible because of my family, my work, and the City of New York. Please consider donating to this cause.
