Una segunda oportunidad para Doris

Para quienes no la conocen su nombre es Doris Rangel, mujer venezolana, valiente, hermosa, fiel creyente en Dios, profesional (Ingeniero Químico), dedicada durante muchos años a entregar su vida y corazón a ello, pero ante todo madre y motor de familia, a quien Dios le otorgó una gran prueba hace nueve años con un cáncer de lengua y a quien hoy le vuelve a tocar librar otra nueva batalla en su nombre. Grandes han sido las pruebas durante estos nueve años, entre consultas médicas, exámenes rutinarios, alimentación a base liquida, estricta limpieza bucal, hasta la pérdida o extracción dental casi total, consecuencia de 37 radioterapias y 15 quimioterapias aplicadas, que dieron paso a la fragilidad del hueso maxilar y dificultad para la apertura de la boca y habla. Esto y muchas otras cosas pero siempre apoyada en la fortaleza de su familia y primeramente en Dios a logrado librar.

Hoy toca afrontar una nueva batalla, situado cerca de la lesión anterior, un nuevo cancer, comprometiendo todo el soporte horizontal de la mandíbula asi como los tejidos en piso de la boca y tercio anterior de la lengua. El equipo médico propone como tratamiento de elección y para mejorar su calidad de vida a posterior, un procedimiento quirúrgico oncológico reconstructivo que abarcaría la “resección segmentaria mandibular, componente horizontal más tejidos blandos del piso de la boca y disección electiva, selectiva (I-III) cuello bilateral, colocando un colgajo osteomiocutáneo microvascular del peroné para el componente óseo mandibular y tejidos resecados”. Consiste en un procedimiento quirúrgico realizado por dos grupos médicos que trabajarán de manera simultánea durante aproximadamente 10 horas. Esta nueva batalla la afrontamos con la misma confianza en Dios y de su mano, sin embargo los altos costos del procedimiento quirúrgico y de los cuidados posteriores nos lleva a solicitar ayuda para poder darle una segunda oportunidad a nuestra madre. En promedio, la operación y el cuidado posterior tendrá un costo de 20.000 dólares, difíciles de afrontar para una familia venezolana, es por ello que hoy iniciamos esta gran campaña, solicitando tu ayuda, como amigo, conocido, familiar, colega, o persona que en su momento ha tenido que librar batallas similares y se siente identificado. No es mucho ni poco lo que con el corazón se otorga. Cualquier aporte servirá para avanzar en el camino y darle una nueva oportunidad a una mujer maravillosa que es Doris, nuestra mamá.

For those who do not know her, her name is Doris Rangel (a Venezuelan Woman) who is brave, beautiful, faithful, believer in God, professional (Chemical Engineer.) She has dedicated, for many years giving her life and heart to this profession. Above all, she is a mother and family provider.

God gave her a great test nine years ago when she was faced with a diagnosis of tongue cancer.  The tests have been great during these nine years, between medical consultations, routine examinations, liquid feeding, strict oral cleaning, up to the loss or almost total dental extraction, consequence of 37 radiotherapies and 15 applied chemotherapies, which gave way to frailty of the maxillary bone and difficulty in opening her mouth and speaking has created  another new battle to fight. Over these years, and many obstacles she has always had the support and strength of her family and most of all with her belief and trust in God she has managed to overcome it. Today the new battle she is faced with is a new cancer located near the previous injury. This cancer is compromising all the horizontal support of the jaw, as well as the tissues on the floor of her mouth and a third part of her tongue.

The medical team is proposing treatment that will improve the posterior quality of life. It consists of a reconstructive oncology surgical procedure that will include "mandibular segmental resection, horizontal component plus soft tissues of the floor of the mouth and elective, selective dissection (I-III) bilateral neck, placing a microvascular osteomyocutaneous flap of the fibula for the mandibular bone component and resected tissues”. This will require a surgical procedure performed by two medical groups that will work simultaneously for approximately 10 hours to ensure the most successful outcome for our dear Doris.

Even though we are  faced with this new battle we have the same trust in God that however  high the costs of the surgical procedure and aftercare is that he will provide the resources needed. This leads us to ask for help in order to give our mother a second chance. On average, the operation and aftercare cost is $ 20,000. This cost is very difficult for a Venezuelan family to face. This is why today we begin this great campaign, requesting your help, as a friend, acquaintance, family member, colleague, or person who at has had to fight any similar battles and feels lead to help at this time.

Any amount given, (big or small) it will be appreciated and felt in our hearts. This contribution will serve to advance the path and give a new opportunity to a wonderful woman who is Doris, our mother.
