<div>Hola, soy <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ingridruiz.sanchez/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Íngrid Ruiz Sánchez</a>, ciclista y ex corredora de montaña. Hoy te escribo porque necesito tu ayuda para poder recuperar mi vida sin dolor.

<div>Desde pequeña, el deporte ha sido el centro de mi vida. Empecé con natación de competición y salidas en bici de montaña con mi familia. Más tarde, mientras trabajaba como profesora de filosofía, me volqué en el trail running, logrando hitos como ser Campeona de España de KV en 2020 y 11ª en el Campeonato de Europa de Skyrunning en 2019.

<div>En 2020, una fascitis plantar bilateral me obligó a dejar de correr. Fue un golpe durísimo, tanto física como emocionalmente. Solo pude superarlo gracias al ciclismo: mi refugio, mi vía de escape y mi nueva pasión.

<div>En 2023 gané el Campeonato de Catalunya de ciclismo en ruta, y eso me permitió fichar por el equipo UCI catalán Massi-Tactic. Corrí pruebas internacionales como el Tour Féminin de l'Ardèche, la Vuelta a Portugal y el Giro de la Toscana. Me enamoré profundamente de este deporte y de su dimensión colectiva.

<div>Después de años haciendo malabares para compaginar entrenamientos, competiciones y trabajo, decidí dar el paso: en 2025 pedí una excedencia voluntaria sin sueldo en mi puesto como profesora. Estoy haciendo un enorme esfuerzo económico y personal para vivir este sueño: entrenar, competir y centrarme al 100 % en el ciclismo. No cuento con ingresos fijos. Estoy invirtiendo todos mis ahorros para poder disfrutar de mi vida cada día.

<div>Este 2025 iba a ser un sueño hecho realidad para mí pero en enero tras competir con la Selección Española en la Challenge de Mallorca, empecé a sentir un dolor insoportable en mi pierna izquierda. Tras meses de pruebas, llegó el diagnóstico: Endofibrosis de la arteria ilíaca externa, una enfermedad rara que afecta sobre todo a ciclistas. La sangre no fluye bien hacia la pierna, provocando dolor, entumecimiento y pérdida de fuerza. Y lo peor: no mejora ni con el reposo. El dolor está presente incluso en las tareas cotidianas. Me está arrebatando la vida activa y el bienestar.

<div>⚠️ Esta patología no tiene tratamiento conservador efectivo. La única solución es una cirugía vascular reconstructiva compleja, que no se realiza en España y no está cubierta ni por la sanidad pública ni por mis dos seguros privados.

<div>Después de mucho buscar, he encontrado un equipo médico especializado en el Hospital OLV Ziekenhuis Aalst (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis) (Bélgica) dispuesto a operarme. El coste total es de 30.000 €, una cifra que no puedo asumir sola.

<div>Por eso te pido ayuda. Cualquier aportación, por pequeña que sea, me acerca a volver a vivir sin dolor, sin hormigueo ni entumecimiento constante, a volver a pedalear, a competir, y sobre todo, a recuperar mi calidad de vida. El deporte no es solo lo que hago: es parte de quién soy.

<div>Since I was a child, sports have been at the center of my life. I started with competitive swimming and weekend mountain biking with my family. Later, while working as a philosophy teacher, I focused on trail running, achieving milestones like Spanish KV Champion in 2020 and 11th place in the European Skyrunning Championship in 2019.

<div>In 2020, a bilateral plantar fasciitis forced me to stop running. It was a tough blow, both physically and emotionally. I was only able to overcome it through cycling: my refuge, my escape, and eventually, my new passion.

<div>In 2023, I won the Catalunya Road Cycling Championship, which opened the door to the UCI Massi-Tactic team. I raced international events like the Tour Féminin de l'Ardèche, Vuelta a Portugal, and Giro della Toscana. I fell deeply in love with this sport and its team-oriented nature.

<div>After years of juggling training, competition, and work, I decided to take the leap: in 2025, I requested an unpaid leave from my teaching job. I am making an immense personal and financial sacrifice to live this dream: to train, compete, and focus 100% on cycling. I have no fixed income and have invested all my savings to be able to live my dream each day.
</div>

<div>2025 was supposed to be the realization of this dream, but after competing with the Spanish National Team in the Challenge of Mallorca, I started to experience excruciating pain in my left leg. After months of tests, the diagnosis was: Endofibrosis of the external iliac artery, a rare condition that mainly affects cyclists. The blood flow to my leg is restricted, causing pain, numbness, and loss of strength. And worst of all, it doesn't improve with rest. The pain is even present in daily tasks, and it’s taking away my active life and overall well-being.

<div>⚠️ This condition has no effective conservative treatment. The only solution is a complex vascular reconstructive surgery, which is not performed in Spain and is not covered by public health or my two private insurance policies.
</div>

</div>
<div>After extensive searching, I found a specialized medical team at OLV Ziekenhuis Aalst (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis), Belgium, who is willing to perform the surgery. The total cost is 30,000€, an amount I simply cannot cover on my own.
</div>

</div>
<div>That’s why I’m asking for your help. Any contribution, no matter how small, gets me closer to living without pain, free from constant tingling and numbness, to cycling again, competing, and most importantly, regaining my quality of life. Cycling isn’t just what I do; it’s part of who I am.
