<div>UNA LUCHA QUE NO PUEDO ENFRENTAR SOLO
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Todo comenzó en agosto de 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>¿QUÉ ES LA ELA?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Actualmente, la ELA no tiene cura.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>¿CÓMO HA CAMBIADO MI VIDA?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>MI ATENCIÓN MÉDICA Y LOS DESAFÍOS ECONÓMICOS
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>DE NUESTRA EXPERIENCIA NACIÓ UNA MAMÁ SENSIBLE
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No somos especialistas.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>¿CÓMO PUEDES AYUDARNOS?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hoy me acerco a ti con humildad y esperanza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gracias por dedicar unos minutos a conocer mi historia.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Esta lucha lleva mi nombre, pero gracias a ustedes no tengo que enfrentarla solo.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Con todo mi cariño y gratitud,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

</div>
<div>UNA LUCHA QUE NO PUEDO ENFRENTAR SOLO
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello, my name is César Portillo. I'm Marce's husband and the proud father of two wonderful children, Patricio and Natalia.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I never imagined that one day I would find myself asking for help to face something completely beyond my control. But today, I want to share my story with you — the story of my family and a disease that has changed our lives forever.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It all started in August 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I began experiencing difficulty speaking, an unusual sensation when breathing, muscle cramps, and weakness in my arms.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What initially seemed like unrelated symptoms turned into a long journey of medical appointments, tests, uncertainty, and fear.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Finally, in November 2024, after being evaluated at Mexico's National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, I received a diagnosis I never imagined I would hear:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>WHAT IS ALS?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, the nerve cells responsible for carrying signals from the brain to the muscles.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over time, the body gradually loses strength and mobility. Simple activities such as walking, speaking, eating, getting dressed, or even breathing can become increasingly difficult.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There is currently no cure for ALS.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is a disease that affects not only the person diagnosed but also profoundly changes the lives of everyone who loves them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>HOW ALS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>More than three years have passed since my first symptoms appeared, and the disease has continued to progress.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, speaking clearly has become increasingly difficult. My arms and hands have lost strength, I need assistance to walk, and everyday activities that once required no effort have become significant challenges.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I also struggle with breathing, especially when lying down, and now rely on a non-invasive ventilation device (BiPAP) to help me breathe while resting.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Muscle cramps, twitching, fatigue, and progressive weakness are now part of my daily life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every change means learning to live differently, finding new ways to adapt, and accepting that some things I once did independently now require assistance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But there is something ALS has not taken away from me:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My desire to live, to enjoy my family, and to keep moving forward.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I want to continue making memories with Marce.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I want to watch Patricio and Natalia grow up, celebrate their achievements, laugh with them, and be present in their lives for as long as possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because behind this diagnosis, I am still César — a husband, a father, and a person with dreams, hopes, and so many reasons to keep going.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>MY MEDICAL CARE AND THE FINANCIAL CHALLENGES
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I currently receive specialized medical care at the ALS Clinic at TecSalud, located at Hospital Zambrano Hellion in Monterrey, Mexico, under the care of the medical team led by Dr. Héctor Ramón Martínez Rodríguez.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Having access to physicians who understand this complex disease has been essential in managing my symptoms and helping me maintain the best possible quality of life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, living with ALS also comes with an overwhelming financial burden.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Medical consultations, diagnostic tests, medications, physical therapy, travel expenses, and specialized medical equipment represent ongoing costs that continue to increase as the disease progresses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As my mobility decreases, additional equipment and adaptations become necessary.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One of our most important goals is to obtain a properly adapted electric wheelchair that will help me preserve as much independence and mobility as possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We must also maintain my respiratory support equipment and prepare for the increasing care needs associated with ALS.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>ALS does not stop progressing, and neither do the expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is why my family and I decided to create this GoFundMe campaign.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Asking for financial help has not been easy, but we have come to understand that we do not have to face this journey entirely on our own.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>TURNING OUR EXPERIENCE INTO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Throughout this journey, my wife and I realized that our experiences could also help other families facing ALS.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Together, we have built Una Mamá Sensible, a social media community where we share our everyday life with ALS, practical advice, useful information, and the lessons we have learned along the way.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In Mexico, finding specialized ALS care, reliable information, and adequate support can be extremely challenging.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know firsthand how overwhelming and isolating this diagnosis can feel.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That is why we decided to share what we have learned, what has helped us, and the difficulties we have encountered.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are not medical experts. We are simply a family navigating this disease every day, hoping that our experiences can make someone else's journey a little easier.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Even while facing our own challenges, we believe there is value in helping others.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>HOW YOU CAN HELP
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, I am reaching out to you with humility and hope.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your donation, no matter the amount, will help cover medical expenses, supportive treatments, rehabilitation, travel for specialized care, and essential equipment that can improve my daily life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every contribution means much more than financial assistance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It means peace of mind for my family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It means access to the care and equipment I need.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And most importantly, it means having more opportunities to enjoy the moments that truly matter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this campaign can make an incredible difference.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You never know how far a story may travel or whose heart it might touch.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I'm not asking for pity. I'm simply asking for the opportunity to live with as much dignity, independence, and quality of life as possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I want to keep creating memories with my children, sharing everyday moments with my wife, and making the most of every day life gives me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you to everyone who has supported us from the beginning, and to those who are just now learning about our journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your generosity reminds us that even when facing something as difficult as ALS, compassion and kindness can make an extraordinary difference.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This may be my battle, but thanks to people like you, I don't have to fight it alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With heartfelt gratitude,
</div>
<div><br />
